That's too bad, but I can't say I am surprised.
I went once a couple summers ago and the place was a ghost town and the ride was "temporarily out of service"
I remember going in with hopes of buying a replica belt but they were WAY overpriced....

Wow. I couldn‘t even picture a WWE themed store being open past 2003. When did WWE New York close down? I figured that every WWE shop would have shut its doors around the same time.
On a semi-related note, when WWF New York first opened in 1999 I was eagerly awaiting a WWF Chicago. I guess I‘ll be waiting forever.

I drove by it last summer, couldn't find a parking spot so we didn't go in. I remember there was some kind of tower with seats on the roof, looked like a ride where it brought you up high and then dropped you. Nothing too interesting from the outside, maybe it was better inside. Edit - here's some pics:

it's a shame it closed, it was cool. I bought a Finlay shirt there, the "I am Your Papi" Eddie one, an ECW one, and an Evolution one back a few years ago, and I tried on the IC belt, it was cool.

I was there in the summer of 2004 and I bought Eddie's "Scarface" style shirt.
I have some photos of the interior..it wasn't all that bad. It had some memorabilia on the walls and I remember a giant screen that was playing that weeks episode of RAW..the Triple H v. Benoit Iron Man match from RAW.

Went there once. Like others have said, it was really expensive and was pretty much devoid of customers. And the ride was out of order too (seriously, was it ever operational?).

as far as the ride is concerned, i think it really only worked the opening weekend, and was deemed as "unsafe" after that due to some technical problem that they never fixed.

Odd. I recall the Piledriver working when I was last at Niagara Falls in 2004ish, but that was before I started watching wrestling again so I didn't go inside.

I went on the Piledriver when I was there (2003 or 2004-ish). Your basic drop ride with the added bonus of being on top of the building, so you got a nice view for the few minutes you were in the air. I think there was another drop ride in the vicinity of that as well. Saw it when I went to Niagra Falls. Didn't go in, because there was probably something better there, like Frankenstein's Monster eating a Whopper. OMG is that still there? I seriously thought that was the greatest thing I'd ever seen.

I've been Niagara Falls recently (as of Summer '10), and yes, the Frankenstein Burger King structure (it's like that due to a Burger King adjacent to the House of Frankenstein haunted house) is still there.

Niagara Falls! Slowly I turned heel...step by step...inch by inch HAH! It's a shame it's going out, but oh well. I didn't even realize it was still in business.

I grew up in Buffalo and would go to Niagra Falls all the time and never saw this. Then I did some fact checking and I realized I left the area in 1999 and it opened in 2002. I'd of like to of seen it once.

I went over there a few times when I crossed the border to drink and go to the strip clubs. Now I have to pay like $100 to get a passport. BS.

I don't go to Niagara Falls all that often. If I do, it's because I'll drive through on the way to a Bills game. The last time I stayed there was almost a year to the day and I had been in Buffalo for the NCAA Tournament. We did Friday in Buffalo and then Saturday in Niagara Falls. We stayed at a hotel literally steps from there (not the Sheraton pictured above, but very close, as well). I walked by there several times during the day and I just ASSUMED it was already closed.
In fact, every time I passed that place over the last several years, I thought nobody had bought the building and it just was sitting there closed.
It comes as a shock to me that the place is still open for business.
