Is that racist? Perhaps the crowd is booing because few of them speak Spanish, and so have no idea what's going on. They do the same to Rey Mysterio when he starts randomly speaking Spanish. But in the case of Del Rio, I thought that refusing to speak the language of the foreign country you live and work in was the height of compassion and respect of the native population?

No, obviously the crowd is racist for not having learned Spanish when they KNOW there are Mexican wrestlers on the card.

When was the last time WWE had an international babyface who didn't play up to a stereotype? (Canadians don't count).
Exactly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the USA doesn't have a recognized official language, does it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the USA doesn't have a recognized official language, does it? As far as the "U-S-A" chants are concerned, it ALWAYS comes across as stupid in a non-teamed based event. But considering that USA isn't exactly renowned for competing internationally in team sport events, it's not surprising that the crowd doesn't realise this.

When was the last time WWE had an international babyface who didn't play up to a stereotype? (Canadians don't count). Exactly. Kofi Kingston. And you may say, well, the Jamaican accent, but people from Jamaica likely have one, so he wasn't playing up anything. It's not like he was smoking weed and listening to Bob Marley. And now that he's from Africa, and no longer the fakin Jamaican, he doesn't really play up any Africa stereotypes. Or he's not like Prince Nana or anything. Paul Burchill when he was a babyface (though he was playing up a pirate gimmick. And William Regal when he was babyface. Finlay you can't say, because he had a leprachaun and loved to fight. No alcohol drinking, though I did read that Finlay drinks Jack Daniels straight like it's water. I remember reading that, like, he drank a few people under the table, Big Show I think was one of them. Sin Cara isn't really a Mexican stereotype, he's a luchadore, and it seems he'll be brought in as a babyface.

I had a few more exceptions that I thought of, like Paul Burchill, William Regal, Sin Cara, and I just thought of Ezekiel Jackson, though I'm not sure what that stereotype would be. Justin Gabriel was mentioned before. Some babyface stereotypes I did think of, Tajiri and Yoshi Tatsu, but Tajiri worked everyone with his English as well, and Yoshi has decent english from someone who has it as a second language. Though from what I understand, Tajiri has better English then most people who speak English as their first language. Finlay, Vladamir Kozlov, Santino Marella. Ohh, adding to the exception list, Layla when she was a babyface.

HEY PABLO!!! SPEAK AMERICAN!!!!
It is true that many lower and middle Americans are sickeningly patriotic and also racist and that plays into it, but maybe they booed Del Rio because they like promos that they can understand. I'm not racist if I ask someone to speak in a language I can comprehend so I can become engaged and join in the dialogue am I? Eh, I'll probably be called a racist no matter what I say because I'm an American right?

This was like 4 or 5 years ago.

The USA chants piss me off as a Brit, but not half as much as America The Beautiful at every Mania.

I just re-watched one of the first segments from the original Diva Search, and the only woman who got booed (future ultra-heel Carmella actually got the best reaction) was the black woman with an afro. That took me aback a bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the USA doesn't have a recognized official language, does it? Technically, we really don't. Blame the Founding Fathers and their desire to not be 'too British'.

The what chants when someone talks with a bit of an accent annoy me, especially when it's a face like Tatsu and Kozlov on NXT.
Especially when both guys speak English much better than 90% of the audience would be able to speak Japanese or Russian.
Maybe it's not racist exactly but it's kinda annoying
