Snagged this from LordsofPain:
I like these choices. And I'm frothing at the mouth thinking about Ted Turner in the HoF. I want it, and I want it NOW!

For crying out loud, especially in a "WCW year", induct Brian Pillman! I guarantee Steve Austin would make the time in his schedule to induct him.

For the celebrity wing, I'm a little surprised Cyndi Lauper hasn't been inducted yet. If her schedule permitted it (she's still pretty active as a live performer), why not call her up?

Yeah, I actually think Cyndi would be the pinnacle of the Celebrity wing. She did what her job was, she showed up and got alot of outside people interested in wrestling. Just so turns out, she forefronted the whole Rock 'n Wrestling Era and got WWE a bunch of appearences on MTV which got some of the highest ratings the channel had ever seen. Way more deserving than most of the celebrities if you ask me.

The guy was always ahead of the curve. He was a good worker before those sorts of guys were popular in the US, sure. But it's not like he was super original about it or anything. Besides being edgy, he never accomplished much of anything in the ring in terms of winning titles or being in the Main Event.

I'm thinking, maybe Michael Hayes goes in this year, since Mania is in Atlanta?
Maybe The Freebirds?

The WWE Hall of Fame is there to honor past superstars for their contributions to the industry and to reminisce about the memories they left behind. Pillman is overqualified in both categories. It's not about titles held or main-event status. It's a staged sport. Think of it this way, Roddy Piper held one title during his entire run in the WWF and WCW, and spent most of that time as an upper-midcarder. Is he not qualified to be in the HOF?

Piper built himself up to the point in which he didn't need a title.
I realize titles don't mean anything, but in terms of character building and kafaybe they kind of do mean something...hence the whole reason almost every single angle revolves around a title in the first place.
Pillman was a great worker for his time, but in terms of actually doing anything important in the ring...he didn't. He was never a Main Event guy, he never made it to Legend status, and he was never main stream. Roddy Piper was all of those things.
Pillman died too young, but even before that, it was question as to if he was ever going to even ever wrestle at a passable level again because of his injuries.

Cowboy Bob Orton George "The Animal" Steele Ernie Ladd Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Jimmy Snuka Johnny Rodz Junkyard Dog Nikolai Volkoff Tito Santana Tony Atlas Without naming Koko B. Ware, I was still able to find ten guys who were no more important in their eras than Pillman was in his. There's no sense in arguing that the guy doesn't deserve to be there. He was one of the most prominent stars of the early and mid 1990's, and anyone who thinks otherwise was clearly watching a different product than I was.

I was just watching ECW's WrestlePalooza 1998, where they had some Georgia-area "legends of extreme": Junkyard Dog (already in), "Dirty" Dick Slater (maybe), and "Bullet" Bob Armstrong (more likely than Slater, even though Slater has an edge in actual WWF experience).
I would not be against Bob Armstrong as the obligatory "local legend". I'd actually kind of like to see it happen.

HOF tickets have been on sale for only 7 hours yet only the upper deck with a side-view of the stage is left. Raw, which is in the same arena two nights later, had closer and cheaper tickets left when I picked them up two weeks ago. They had been on sale for over a month.

I can't believe the thought of Lex Luger being inducted before say Rick Rude other than Luger still being alive.
Roberts, Rude, Hellwig and Savage are the big names missing from WWE's HOF past.

When is Bruiser Brody ever going to be inducted? Given the circumstances surrounding his death I dare say never.
