Vince can "rebrand" all he wants, when the general public hears WWE, they think wrestling. This channel hasn't even happened yet, and it's already shaking hands with the WBF, XFL, the WWE Casino/Hotel, the World and WWE Niagra Falls in the failed outside projects bin.

Even if they fill the WWE channel with non-wrestling content, I can't seen non-wrestling shows catching on at all, as most non-fans would just assume that it's all wrestling programs, and will never check out the WWE channel. It's like if The Golf Channel started showing one of my favorite shows of all time, I would never know since I never check to see what's on the Golf Channel, since I'm not into golf.

it's going to be like G4 where they only have one video game show which is X-Play!

The WWE network?
I don't care what they have on it, it'll be awesome no matter what!

I don't think this is a bad idea in and of itself, but if the WWE thinks this will change the mainstream's idea of them being a pro wrestling company, they're sorely mistaken.

I really hope when HHH takes over that they'll phase "wrestling" back in again.

It's always fun watching Vince's extracurricular activities crash and burn.

Are we finally going to get our buddy cop show with Truth & Wisdom, with Ron Simmons as The Chief?

Basically, it still ends up being a wrestling channel, just with scripted tv shows on it. Vince needs to give up. He's not gonna get away from it.

Wow. Bravo Vince. It usually takes a specialty network 15 years before it becomes ashamed of its primary reason of being and destroys itself. You're getting it done right out of the gate. Suck it, MTV and Syfy!
Coming soon: The Wrystlyng Nytwork.

Here's the thing i dont get, vince wants to move the product in several directions besides wrestling. Yet, every non-wrestling venture he has involves wrestlers in some capacity (wrestling announcers for the wbf and xfl, wrestlers in starring roles in wwe films, etc). I think the only entertainment venture he did that didnt involve wrestling was smackdown records. Now they only signed one band (neurotica) but its not like the band consisted of wrestlers or wrote wrestling themes. It was only unsuccesful since neurotica were a unremarkable nu-metal act in an era where there was a glut of those. However, THATS how you move away from wrestling, not putting your wrestlers in films.

It makes sense as there's only so much pro wrestling content WWE can show on a non-on demand channel. If they really want to be successful they'll take a look at how team-owned sports channels operate, like YES, NESN, SNY, etc. They have some diversified content, but don't really deviate too far from their core content. The worst they can do is look at how some third rate niche channels like G4 just abandon their core concept.
McMahon, Dunn, and Co. just need to get over themselves about trying to get away from wrestling, though. They should embrace it. The public's NEVER going to buy them as anything more than wrasslin' and they're deluding themselves into trying to change their minds.
