6. Sheamus defeated Randy Orton in a non-title, no disqualification match. Late in the match, Orton hit a wild backdrop onto the ring steps. Sheamus pulled out a kendo stick and hit Orton with it five times. Orton hit the RKO on Sheamus. Christian ran out and ended up hitting Orton with the title belt. Sheamus ended up covering Orton for the win. Has anybody actually left the arena when they're shown to be leaving it? Somewhat ironically I think Edge did once. That time he quit for a while or something....right before the Rated R persona started.

Other than when it's been by stretcher or something, not that I can think of.

All I can remember there is him quitting after One Night Stand 2006 then coming through the front, taking all of his shirts from the stand, and leaving... then he showed up at the end of the show anyway.

I like to imagine that the guys who fake leave go get a Slurpee or something, check their watch and rush back to the arena in time for their beat down.

Johnny Curtis, Average Man! They should do a series of vignettes for that: Week 1: (Johnny Curtis buying groceries) Johnny Curtis, Average Man! Week 2: (Johnny Curtis mowing his lawn) Johnny Curtis, Average Man! Week 3: (Johnny Curtis checking his mailbox. Has no mail, goes back inside.) Johnny Curtis, Average Man!

Details are hazy but I want to say it was late 05. It was when he was doing the slow burn to a heel turn complaining that he never got a title shot.

Come to think of it, I think I know - October or November 2004, when he walked out on Chris Benoit defending the tag titles and left the building. Don't think he came back.

Every fan in the history of fandom does that. That doesn't make it any truer, though. Of course Christian has his fans but its not this massive clamoring for him to be on top instead of Orton, except on the internet. This isn't exactly calling for Taka Michinoku instead of Austin on top back in '98. Christian is over enough to main-event and had momentum for the first time in over a year. There was no harm in going with him as top face, especially since it's been established that Orton is not a draw. Once this program is over, does anyone want to see Orton against any other heel? Maybe Cody? Meanwhile, there were at least half a dozen potential programs for Christian as champ.

I agree there was no harm in giving him a shot as top face for a little while; I just don't think he was more over than Orton. Also, I disagree with people saying a face vs. face feud with Orton and Christian would have been a good idea. Orton would have almost certainly been cheered more and Christian would have gotten booed. The fans cheered Orton over Kofi and Orton was still a heel then.

Teddy hates the Irish.

I actually like Orton as a tweener or face, although I don't want them to turn him into SuperOrton and have him no-sell like Cena does. But I would rather have seen Christian stay a face and hold onto the title for at least a month instead of having him immediately drop it to Orton. Because Orton had his turn with the belt, and you know he's gonna win it several more times before his career's over. Whereas Christian never had it before this year, and at age 37 it's anybody's guess how much longer he'll keep going. Imagine you're a guy who's lower middle class, works a blue collar job his whole life, busts his ass year after year, and then one day you win the lottery! You have millions of dollars! Things are great! But then the lottery people say "Oh no, wait, we made a mistake. You're not actually the winner. The real winner is this obscenely rich guy who just buys lottery tickets for shits and giggles. So you have to give back that money." I feel that them FINALLY giving the title to Christian, only to turn around and put it on Orton ASAP, is the same kind of thing. I feel sorry for Christian like I feel sorry for the blue collar guy.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Plus, it's not like Orton as champion really changes anything. Smackdown's ratings are virtually the same that they've been for months. If they let Christian have a 4 month run with the belt... it wouldn't have made a difference so why put it on Orton anyway?

Is Kane okay? He seems to have completely vanished over the last couple of weeks.
And good riddance to the Corre. An awful name, an awful theme song, and a faction that'd already done everything it could do by the end of last year, and which has only been holding back the genuinely talented members ever since. Maybe now Gabriel can finally be used as a singles midcard babyface.
Here's hoping Sheamus makes it into the Capitol Punishment WHC match.

After the cameras were off Sheamus and Christian return to beat on Orton. Orton RKOs Sheamus... DiBiase and Rhodes run in and eat RKOs. --- They're still his bitches? Poor Teddy and Cody.

Yeah the Corre was one seriously dreadful faction, probably one of the worst groups ever. It seemed like every week all of their matches were DQs or countouts and nothing ever happened with them at all.
It's not a shock that Christian would turn heel. Though if he doesn't win the title after all this, I have no idea what they will do with him.

So it looks like Christian will be WWE's #1 heel heading into the Summer and possibly a big match at Slam?
