Fantastic piece by Lee Burton of Ringbelles about why he thinks Melina's not long for the WWE, and I think it's hella accurate. I'd be surprised if she's still employed by the end of the year. ringbellesonline.com/2011/07/15/melinas-doomed/

Not going to lie, I forgot she was a 2-Time Divas Champion.

I used to get worried about her getting canned but after she managed to survive the shattering of the humilation event horizon in 2007 and stay with the company, I'm impressed with every consecutive month that she sticks around but really don't see her as any more likely to be gone as most of the other divas. Yeah she's pretty insignificant right now but being a heel diva on Raw right now is pretty much absolute condemnation, seeing how the Bellas lost the belt to Kelly and the fact that they seem to have had like one or two victories in their whole reign. When you're on the "undercard" of the division like Melina is, how can you be expected to be doing any better? You cannot.
They just used her for a huge PR tour into one of their biggest emerging markets, so clearly, they must think that she has some degree of value. Not to claim that she's like a human incarnation of pure gold for them, but I'm sort of bored with seeing the same "She's doomed!" claims by people every month.

I doubt she's going anywhere because WWE likes John Morrison, and I can easily see him quitting if Melina got fired. Doubtful. In all honesty, the best thing that could happen for Morrison would be if Melina were fired.

6 years of being front-and-center on Raw, Smackdown and PPV. Had to come to an end sometime

I'll point out that most of K2's matches are that short. She beat Rosa on Smackdown this week in about the same time with about the same amount of offense. While it doesn't invalidate anything in the article, getting squashed by K2 isn't a reliable data point.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would completely stupid for him to do it, but I think he would leave if she got fired just like Jerry Lawler did when Kat was fired.

I think the most convincing argument the author makes is age. 32, is old for a diva. She's been around for 6 or 7 years, in today's market, that's impressive.
Her best days in the ring are most likely behind her. She still has some value in being a veteran who can put over younger talent... But accepting that role would be up to her.
I think she's a very attractive & talented woman, but she can't lead the pack anymore.

Well with spring cleaning passing with her still with the company, my fears have dissipated of her being released anytime soon. Every diva has a short match on Raw (and in Kelly Kelly's case, mandatory due to her limited move-set at this point in her development). That's why I like seeing Melina on Superstars or Smackdown, because they actually give them enough time in a match to tell a story. The heel turned was doomed the moment they decided not to have her talk and explain why she was turning. She's literally said more words while wrestling than she has when given a microphone.

I really, really hope she's not released, but I won't be surprised if she is. She's definitely one of my favourite divas (and one of the few really good female wrestler they have right now).

So.... she's bad because no one knows how to take her cool-looking moves? Dude, there's like six female wrestlers on the roster! They should just work with her to learn how to take the code red!
Ugh, this kind of article.... it just makes me feel kind of dirty. They're taking tiny little bits and pieces of information and using them to infer her entire (bitchy) personality. Then, once you've shoddily established that she's a bad person, everything ELSE she does can be explained negatively, because hey, she has a bitchy personality!
I'm no great Melina fan, but this is sleazy.

I'm no great Melina fan, but this is sleazy. Yet on the other hand she's friends with Maryse, the Bellas, Gail, Natalya, Beth, Winter, Lillian and others. The "She's a social monster that everyone hates" argument is more full of holes than Emmentaler cheese. If she were really direspected backstage and totally worthless, they easily would've given her the boot back in early 2008 when she was doing absolutely nothing and was single. And wasn't this: Immediately disproved? For the most part, yes. Before she came out and claimed it was hacked, people on twitter who were talking to her in DMs were talking about how it seemed they were talking to two different people who had completely different grammar, and that each was claiming they were in completely different areas in the country. Now that obviously can't be proven concretely either way, but between the total weirdness of that message and the surrounding circumstances that it's not really worth taking seriously either way.

Rambling piece of smark-baiting nonsense, a compliation of various newz stories over the last year. I doubt anyone in WWE cares all that much if Melina's moves are "unrealistic" or what she says on Twitter.
The reason she's dropped so far down the card so quickly is the blisteringly obvious fact (mentioned in one sentence near the end of this piece) that she's now north of thirty and looks it, and WWE wants its top divas to look young and pretty.
