I went to the K&S Wrestlefest Convention in Philly in April. Highspots was bringing in Ashley as a vendor guest, so in addition to my Superticket, I also prepaid Highspots for an autograph and photo-op with Ashley. As a wrestling AND Survivor nerd, I was probably more excited to meet her than anyone should be. I spoke to a guy at the Highspots table toward the end of the show and he said that Ashley stopped communicating with them about 10 days prior. Before that, she was super pumped, swore she'd be there, etc., then NOTHING. He said, "If you knew what she was getting paid for this, it would blow your mind that she didn't show." He went on to say she was a nice girl, but a "hot mess". I'd try to meet her again one day if she happened to be at an event, but I certainly wouldn't go with her specifically in mind.

From Diva-Dirt.com: Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro recently sent out a bunch of tweets suggesting that she is planning on making a wrestling comeback. The 2005 Diva Search winner mentioned that she wishes to be trained full-time and claims that she was trained on a per match basis during her time in the WWE. She also makes mention of the women and men she worked with, such as Trish Stratus, Victoria and Jillian Hall: Meanwhile, WILD Wrestling has announced that Ashley has joined their roster. In an official press release, they write: New York City, NY – Early on Sunday, former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro sent a message on her official Twitter account (@ashleymassaro11) that she wanted to get back into the wrestling world after a multi-year absence. In her tweet, she specifically mentioned her desire to become a WILD Warrior.
In subsequent tweets, she stated that she wanted to focus on her in-ring skills and that she wanted to become a world champion in the sport she loves.
Later in the day, WILD Owner Travis Leland made contact with her and they spent much of the afternoon coming to terms with each other. It is now official that Ashley Massaro is the newest member of our roster.
But word is that she won’t be stepping into the squared circle – just yet. Ms. Massaro will hold a different position in WILD until she feels the time is right to re-enter the ring. Although it is unclear what role she will play in the World Independent Ladies’ Division, Mr. Leland has told us that she is indeed a member of our organization.
Welcome to WILD Wrestling, Ashley Massaro! ==========

The track record for women in wrestling sucks. Unless the marry a rich guy (Sable, Gail Kim) or leave early for other careers (Trish Stratus, Stacy Keibler), most of them seem to end up really bad off in the end. Guys can achieve the longevity and respect, but women get kicked out the door. Most of the group of girls Ashley worked with were fired within a few years of each other: Candice, Jillian, Mickie, Melina, Maria, Torrie.
Good luck to Ashley, even if she is a headcase. She probably got in to the wrong business.

Trained per match, geez, that sounds incredibly dangerous, what would have happened if she got really hurt, or if she really hurt somebody? That's completely messed up. No wonder she was so bad, like, she was never formally trained, geez. I wonder if other girls were trained in that way. I remember that one time where Candice Michelle messed up her collarbone after falling improperly off the top rope, I'm wondering if she was also improperly trained.

The collarbone injury was just an unfortunate freak accident, but until around late 2006/2007 (when she went out on her own to get training from guys on the indies, including Joey Ryan) she was put in matches with hardly any training, just like most of the girls around that time. Heck, they put Kaitlyn in matches on NXT with only a few months training last year. I've always thought that was incredibly stupid of the WWE. Ashley was really thrown in at the deep end; she had a PPV match in her first month in the business (and took a nasty fall outside the ring during it).

I'd actually like to see her in the ring if she does go through with full training, her looks as a cliche punk girl fit and was over, and she herself was good looking (Italian looking lasses are winners), I get why she gets trashed on here but her look was great, it just so happened that her wrestling ability was as bad as 90% of the womens roster at that point. Getting trained from match to match on live TV is pretty damned shocking.
I don't expect her back in the WWE but if she gets better and ends up in TNA later on I'll be happy for her.

It also turned out there was also another model called Ashley Massaro. That was just a weird story all around. If it was wrong you would think Ashley would have taken some action by now (especially in lawsuit-heavy America).
