Wow, so WWE Magazine remembers continuity better than WWE programming. Nice.
I say if they bring back Taker to avenge that happened to him at Bragging Rights by going after Kane or Wade Barrett, then they should just finish the Bigger Picture storyline already. If you're wrapping up one detail, wrap them all up.
Have Taker come back and immediately go after Barrett. Barrett swears that he wasn't the mastermind, but it was all part of the Bigger Picture...but he refuses to name the man who set it all in motion due to protect himself and his job. Taker says if he'll talk or find someone that will. Each week Taker randomly takes out a former Nexus member. McGillicutty...Slater...Gabriel...until only Otunga and Barrett are left.
Taker confronts Barrett one more time at the Royal Rumble demanding answers. He tells Barrett that if he isn't ready to talk, there's one more guy that might be willing to to save his own ass. Otunga Classic comes down back to his old weasel ways and tells Wade he's not taking a beating for him or for the guy Wade's covering for. Before Otunga can finish talking, Triple H's music hits. Triple H confronts Taker and says he has to step in and demands Taker stop assaulting people. Taker smirks at Trips and then tombstones Otunga to send a message. Trips smirks back and says fine, you want to know so bad who was behind Nexus assaulting you?
*Barrett tosses Triple H a sledgehammer that he pulled from under the ring while Taker was distracted and Trips levels him with it before pounding away on Taker's head*
Trips bends down next to Taker and tells him that he was the mastermind behind Nexus. He set them up to it, helped get them their contracts...everything. The Bigger Picture? A two step plan. To help him take over the WWE and to help him end Taker's streak and avenge HBK. The plan was stalled due to interference by John Cena and CM Punk...but he's in control now. Now that part one is finished...time to kill the streak once and for all.
Nexus reforms under Barrett and Trips and tries to make life a living hell for Taker leading to Mania. They're so successful, and Trips gets so cocky that he makes it a Career vs Streak match. (In ring obviously, he can still be COO.) Trips treats Nexus like his lackies and come Mania time they've had enough. Taker has Trips on the ropes and he thinks Nexus will help him...but instead they walk out on him leaving Taker to finish the job.
Just a little wishful booking to finish up the past years storylines. As much as I know a lot of people wish it would go away by this point, I think they can wrap it up nicely...especially with him hinting at HHH/Taker 2 at Mania after last years match.

He's going to try for at least a few more years.
Wrestlemania XXX - Undertaker's final match. Massive Anniversary and a big deal. Keep his schedule all of 4/5 matches a year and he'll easily do it, even if people will moan he's broken down, despite his WM matches ALWAYS delivering these past few years.

Taker's last match will be with either Cena or Punk at WM, and he'll go out on his back. That's the kind of man he is and I don't think he'll want to end on a 20-0 note.
I'm leaning more towards Cena, because this is probably the only match that can match Cena-Rock in terms of interest.
That being said, I appreciate how WWE has kept Cena-Taker separated for such a long time. Makes their eventual clash all the more worthwhile, the same way Taker-HBK-WM25 was magical.

It won't matter if Taker comes out the next night and shakes Cena's hand...if Cena pins Taker at Mania, the E better be ready to turn him heel. There's no keeping him face with the reaction he'll get after that because I guarantee the fans will be livid.

Wow, I'm quite impressed that they look like they're gonna keep continuity here after all of this time. Kudos to them for that because they could've easily swept under the rug.
Yeah, I don't think he's retiring as soon as people make out. I mean, lets be honest, he's been retiring every year for the last few according to a lot of people.

I like Taker but what is the point just bring him back for the streak. The way things are going on smackdown if he is coming back i think the match may end up as Taker vs Mark Henry. Aswell I'm sure Teddy Long is somewhere getting a list of wrestlers ready of who he wants to "go one on one with Da Undertaka"

I can see him showing up at the end to scare the shit out of someone, then turn up again at the Rumble and then beat someone at Mania and disappear. Not a tough schedule at all, besides we don't know how bad of a shape he's in really.

Not a tough schedule at all, besides we don't know how bad of a shape he's in really. This is true. I guess only the man himself can truly know how well he can go at this stage. However, I do fear he'll end up wheelchair bound for the rest of his life if he doesn't hang it up soon.

Taker needs to save himself for a match with Cena.
It needs to happen.

It occurs to me that 'Taker has been broken down for years, and still puts on amazing shows. Dude's a tough SOB. If he thinks he can get in the ring and pull it off, I'm not one to doubt him.

I'm hardly an expert on the topic, but I'd expect 'Taker wouldn't want to just walk into 'Mania cold. Ring Rust + hugely overelevated expectations for his Mania matches does not equal something good. And, from his perspective, if he's going to be back in the ring anyway to limber up, he might as well do it on camera where it will help the company. Just a theory, but it makes sense to me. Except that he basically came back cold at Maina back in April.

lol, will they just forget about Wrestlemania 27? It's weird to think that he came back for that short amount of time with no regard for Wade Barrett. Wrestling at WM is more important than a man trying to end his career?!

I'd still find it amusing if, at Wrestlemania, he ended up with an opponent like Wade Barrett or Drew McIntryre (Up-and-Coming Heel, if you will) and the whole match was them rushing at Taker, Taker throwing up a boot, them being stunned, and Taker hitting the Tombstone for 20-0.
I really don't care if it would "bury" someone. I'd enjoy it.

I just want 'Taker to retire if I'm honest.
And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. The guys body is obviously f***ed, I'd hate for him to take one wrong bump and end up in a wheelchair.

Is it possible that we just all think Taker is badly broken and beat up. I know he has taken his fair share of punishment of the past 20 or so years but, the guys at home longer than any Terry Funk retirement lasted. Surely he can feel somewhat better over his months and months of breaks to pull of decent match once or twice a year.

Ugh. Just retire. Nothing more can be done. How many times can we watch him beat Mark Henry, Kane, Kahli, and whatever hot act Smackdown was building up. Dumb.

The goal appears to get him to 20-0, and while #20 *should* be a marquee match, a throwaway match accomplishes the same thing. And I don't think a lot of people would be all that disappointed. Half the spectacle of the Undertaker's matches are his 20 minute long intros anyway, and I'm sure they'd go all out for that.
