I heard a rumor that Rob Black had a deal where if you showed up he would run over a puppy. I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but I do remember Rob Black threatening, on the XPW Web site, to feed a Chihuahua to a snake if he didn't get more attention from wrestling media like PWI. It didn't happen and he later revealed that he had no actual intention of doing it.

WWE's 'Eddie-sploitation' is no where near as bad as the worst of Fritz Von Erich's tactics.

Not only was it disgusting, but it didn't have anything to do with wrestling OR porn.

Seriously, you can really take your pick of Rob Black, Ian Rotten, or Fritz Von Erich, but I feel like Fritz is the clear leader in being an awful human being as a wrestling promoter.

Him piggybacking his own sons is probably what edges him, though Rotten's treatment of Mickie Knuckles hasn't been a ton better given they were supposedly like father and daughter.

I don't get the 'Eddiesploitation' thing.
Would it have been better if they never spoke of him again and didn't give his widowed wife a job and security?
There's f*** all other reason for her to have ever been on TV otherwise.

And honestly, based on everything I know about Eddie Guerrero (and I'll admit I could be completely wrong), I think if Eddie could respond to "Eddiesploitation", he'd find it all completely hilarious.

Probably. The guy didn't have a problem separating the show from reality, such as portraying a father insanely jealous of his daughter's admiration for Rock and screaming at them, or being a lecherous jerk in the Chyna storyline.

Has/have ECW or TNA ever had a disgusting promotional tactic?

Has/have ECW or TNA ever had a disgusting promotional tactic? I can give a few from ECW (I'm going from memory here, so the details might be a bit off) - - A very very VERY uncomfortable shoot interview with Tammy/Sunny where she addresses her drug problems. - Showing backstage footage of James Mitchell blowing off his finger by accident and the backstage fallout from it.

Pacman Jones by himself wouldn't have been bad. But they decided to make light of his very serious legal problems by having him "make it rain" every week.
TNA recently showing Pope planning a dog fighting ring is probably just as bad.

Eddiesploitation was awful.
Maybe not as bad as the other stuff on here, but I can't impossibly imagine defending it while I have a fully-working human conscience.

On the converse, I just don't think that it was half as big a deal as people make it out to be. His family got money, and while it was a cheap way to promote Rey, it also worked a long way towards cementing Eddie's legacy.

Nearly everything done by Ian Rotten springs to mind. Whilst not so disgusting if you take each incident in isolation, the consistent scummyness is overwhelming. Nicely Said Ian Rotten The King Of Scum
