Everything is so fast paced these days, it's a wonder anyone has an attention span. It's not just Spongebob. At the end of the day, it'll be ok. It seems like we're trying to create a super race of people that will not happen because nobody's perfect, so they should just ease up on this kind of shit.

If they really want to see if Spongebob is the problem, do this same study again, only have other kids watching shows like Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life. Spongebob isn't any more insane than those shows were, if anything I think they make Spongebob look kind of tame. You need to rewatch the latter two if you think that. Not a SINGLE thing on SpongeBob has ever been as screwed up as the average ep of Ren and Stimpy. It's damn near inappropriate for kids. Rocko would go over most kids' heads, too. They might be taken in by the colors, but there's too much dialogue geared towards older children/teenagers.

The thing is, people ALWAYS act differently when they're watching TV. This isn't new.
My nephew is super-smart for his age (four), active and lovable, but as soon as those Disney Junior shows are on, he's in a trance.
Turn the TV off and he snaps back to reality, and he might even rush at you as if to fight.
TV just does that to people. Now if you wanna suggest we ditch the whole thing...well, it'd probably improve everything, but I ain't giving up my TV for nobody.

Breaking news ladies and gentleman: Spongebob is more entertaining than ANYTHING on PBS. I'll give you all a moment to take this in.
Good? Okay, who gave these hacks any amount of money for this? Is it hard to imagine that after watching Spongebob they'd rather THINK about the show than take a test?

My two year old son watches Spongebob, but I limit it to an hour a day and that's it. I know he doesn't understand it, but loves it because it's flashy and silly. He's incredibly smart for his age though, and most kids that age or even four have short attention spans.
