Oh man, how could I have forgotten about that. Every time I watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I hear Robert Englund's commentary. The man should do a full length one for that film. I'd buy that for a dollar. ;D I hate my brother, he has the steelbook "2-Disc Ultimate Edition" version of TCM on DVD.

Surprise. The Bridge is a Transformer. More than meets the eyes? More like "Prepare to meet demise." ...I got nothin. I actually love that second one As for posters, the only other one besides the original teaser with the 5 going through the skull is a ripoff of TFDs and one with a guy hanging on the bridge which was lame.... Now, what I came here to post From the summer of Final Destination 5 and Piranha 3DD.... From the Director of Final Destination 4 (should already be a sign right there...)

How about a new poster for the upcoming The Thing prequel. I will admit, I'm digging the poster. It's a great callback to the '82 poster of Carpenter's movie, I like the tagline, and honest to god, I just noticed the guy's right hand about a second ago, third time seeing the poster. Oh yeah, and the lower-left corner. That has me at least a little amped.

That is a nice looking poster for the THING prequel. Hopefully they won't end up going too far overboard with the ridiculous CGI and whatnot. Plus, they have to be careful with what they do in order not to foul up the storyline from Carpenter's remake. I mean, the Thing in that film was still learning to be a mammal, so unless this is a totally separate entity, and IT learns how to be dog/cat/human....and then the newborn wakes at the end of this movie, I don't see how they have many options.
Or maybe my memory of what all it had impersonated in the Norwegian camp is a little fuzzy.

Yeah, I have this one. It's really very good. I remember, the first DVD I ever bought was BOOGEYMEN: THE KILLER COMPILATION, with scenes from a bunch of horror flicks. I thought it was weird seeing Simon next to the likes of Freddy, Jason, Chucky, etc. But they got me to buy THE UGLY, so apparently they knew what they were doing. That's how me and my friend Sean were introduced to the film. Hell, it also introduced me to the The Guardian, which I own and have only watched the first 20 minutes of. I should get around to finishing that. I actually saw THE GUARDIAN before BOOGEYMEN. I remember liking it at the time, but nothing stuck in my brain. I don't even remember what it's about, aside from the monster being a woman. And yes, Robert Englund's commentary was bitchin'! I remember being SO PSYCHED when he said they were working on the Freddy vs. Jason movie.

Speaking of boogeymen (and women) Netflix just updated it's horror listings, and I see they've put the "tooth fairy gone amok" flick Darkness Falls on their "streaming" side. You know the main difference between THAT film and the recently released Vanishing on 7th Street? In Darkness Falls there was actually a flesh and blood entity to fear, and not some vague, "shadow people" menace. It almost pains me to say this, considering the cast that "7th Street" has going for it, but Darkness Falls was actually WAY more fun to watch, and is a better horror movie too.
Vanishing on 7th Street isn't so much about ANYTHING really, as much as it is about showing various images of a post "rapture" city where those who are left behind are ominously stalked from the...err.....shadows by ummm.....errr.....shadow creatures whose main goal is to pull the living down into the....well, shadows. Trust me, there haven't been this many shots of empty jeans lying on the floor since the Youtube video of Lindsay Lohan's post "house arrest release" party. Everywhere you look, empty clothes, dropped belongings, and various paraphernalia from people who suddenly just....ceased to be.
Not that the movie BOTHERS to ever explain who these shadow beings really are, why SO MANY little Jimmies got "got" (as R-Truth would put it) at one time, or why in the bluest of blue HELLS that John Leguizamo (a great character actor, and an all around talent when motivated) is left to carry this movie on his shoulders, only to be reduced to a background player? I mean, I get that this is an ensemble picture and all, but why set up ONE guy to be the main focus, and then not have him on screen for almost thirty minutes after that?
The rest of the cast includes a totally unsympathetic Hayden Christiansen as a sports newsanchor who was presumably "Left Behind" during this rapture for schtupping the busty blonde weathergirl behind his wife's back (Adultery?), Thandie Newton as a chain-smoking nurse who only wants to find her infant daughter (having a baby out of wedlock?) and a young black kid whose name I didn't catch, who naturally first shows up on screen holed up in a bar, pointing a shotgun at Christiansen. Naturally. *EYEROLL*
To say that Vanishing on 7th Street is a bad movie would be unfair. It's a GREAT idea, when you strip away all the mumbo-jumbo and actually give your protagonists something to fight BACK against. This movie, however, fails to do that, and as a result, all tension and intrigue is bled right out of it.
**, mainly for Leguizamo's heroic effort to breathe brightness and light into a heavy, dull film.
