Not sure whether this is allowed or not, but here goes. I'm not a spammer. Here's my first attempt at sports journalism: kylemulholland.wordpress.com/2011/12/30/ufc-brock-vs-overeem-who-needs-it-more/It's from my new blog. I discuss the implications of the fight for both men, and for the division as a whole. It's supposed to be fairly accessible. I would really appreciate any of the feedback you may have on the writing style, content and improvements. Cheers. Not bad. It really is a fight of one guy who has nothing to lose and everything to gain against a guy who's career could be SHOT by losing. Exactly. I have to assume that Brock thought this would be an easy fight when he took it. I see no other logical reason why he would.

I'm going to cry right now given I know Lesnar's going to have his head tiger knee'd into the sun when he goes for a takedown... See, this is what I'm looking forward to. He's going in against the Dutch war god, so I'm looking forward to Overeem kneeing his head into the next state. I'm excited about it too, I like 'Reem, I like Lesnar, so no bitchy fanboyness at the end of this fight no matter how it goes...somewhat of a rarity in UFC for me in all honesty, they craft such fine reasons to dis/like people. That's a good piece of writing, concise, easy to understand, and gives a reason why people should be interested. Nice work.

To be fair Lesnar has said he only wants to fight the best he can, so apart from the possible insane victory to get him another title shot, his own competitive spirit may have made him take it which I think is quite honourable.

Because this thread has been made early, I've decided to bookmark it and come back Saturday for the fights. Depending on whether I'm at home or at Hooters for this one. Either way, I'm going to see it. Thanks for reminding me about this BTW. You'd be a bit late for Saturday... it's on Friday night. To be fair, New Year's Eve is Saturday from 1pm to 12, for us Brits. I completely screwed up on when I thought this fight was going to take place. I saw adverts for Lesnar/Ubereem 31st... Of course I didn't realize it was actually 1am...English time. Stupido me is stupid. lol Oh well, ANYWAY...Brock is an idiot, he can't seem to even hunt without getting in trouble..whilst shooting desert rats with a machine gun. BUT, I still love the dude, even with his post Frank Mir rant about hating Bud and humping Sable. It's friggin' Brock Lesnar!

In other news, a Diaz is going to be killed by a cowboy tonight. Will we see a knockout? Let's hope so.

^Yea, Brock, love him/hate him has always said. 'I will fight the best, I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I was the best. Heck he even said that in the WWE about being a performer.

I think it's honourable too. I'm just not sure it makes good business sense! I agree with you there, longevity is so important for any huge draw and I'm sure Dana will have tried to mention that to Brock and his team but...well, he's so driven at anything he does I suppose his competitive side always wins out. Makes for a Hell of a fight thankfully! I feel Nate is going to take down Cerrone, but that's more for my general dislike of Cerrone (not hate, just irks me for some reason) than any analysis of their skills haha. Really looking forward to that fight. Fitch/Hendricks should be decent too. I won't be watching this live so need to have an internet blackout post 1am, but by tomorrow afternoon I'll be sat with a bunch of mates hopefully on the edge of my seat. Genuinely looking forward to it more than any UFC event in a long while.

Just bought it. Got my Publix Chicken Tenders, Red Wine, and I can't wait to see some great fights hopefully. I have no emotional investment in the main event or the co-main, I just hope they're awesome fights(Which they both probably will). The only emotional investment I may have is I hope that someone puts old "Mr. 30-27" Jon Fitch on his rear and FORCES him to fight and go for the finish for once. I usually defend people who are heavy on decisions in their fights since most of them actually go for finishes, but Jon Fitch doesn't even try to finish the guys he's dominating. Also, not putting Chael Sonnen on this card to add the extra spice is a travesty!! THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP DESERVES TO BE ON THIS CARD DAMMIT!! They can't keep your real world middleweight champion down for long though. ;D

^Hey, I like Sonnen and his character and I completely agree that Fitch is a complete idiot in a marketing, image sense. Also, Chael is on FOX 2 in a couple of weeks! In America on National TV, for free! I think that shows how much that 33 year old, trash talking dude matters to the UFC. Also, no emotional investment? Brittney Palmer dated Donald Ceronne. We need the Cowboy to win, otherwise Brittney might stop being a ring girl and go back to art college.

Sorry for the double post but what a step down for Nunes. He was in a co-main event and now he is the curtain jerker on a free prelim.
Also Manny needs to learn how to touch gloves without being a git.

That was the point I was getting at in my blog. If Brock was smart, he would have taken the high road for the time being and given any number of excuses. To maintain his drawing power, it would have made more sense to give him a few jobbers to the stars/journeymen (Don't know what the term for this in UFC is) to build him back up. Then when the eventual Overeem fight came about he wouldn't have to look so bad in losing. Now he's gonna have a hard time if he does lose.

The tv order of this PPV confuses me, I don't give a crap about either TV prelim fights, but there are three fights on the facebook ones that should be televised.

^Well DHK and Pearson should be great fun...but Fitch and Hendricks are on PPV? Huh? Good ol 29/28 Fitch. He is the extended Diva's match of the PPV. There might be a 30 minute line for the bathroom.

By the way, if anyone's wondering about the UFC on Live app, if current performance is any indicator, it's a piece of garbage.
