Today's conference will be about Vita, like I thought.
I'd like to make a point, that it is very entertaining watching the Japanese chat room attached to the Japanese live stream.
Sony will be releasing a "Splash Blue" PS3 and a "Scarlet Red" PS3. As well as a PSP that is red on the front and black on the back, with the PSP on the back in red.
Vita launches in Japan on December 17th!
In Japan, the 3G services will be provided by the carrier NTT DoCoMo, and Sony will sell pre-paid 3G data plans. Users will have to pay by the hour, or, 980 Yen($13) for 20 hours or 4980 Yen($65) for 100 hours.
The Vita comes with something called Welcome Park that has mini games. For example, you can take a picture with the Vita's camera and the picture is turned into a sliding puzzle.
Vita has a web browser that you can use while a game is running, much like what the 3DS can do.
The Vita will have a friends list, and the Vita has access to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Skype.
Sony is confident that the Vita is a high grade entertainment system, but still nothing about actual games in this presser yet..... :-|
And speak of the devil, we move onto the games.
Ono on stage talking about Street Fighter X Tekken first.
Ono then moves onto Ultimate MARVEL vs. Capcom 3. Confirms it is a Vita launch title. It'll have the same modes as the PS3 version and run in 60 frames per second. It'll also have touch controls(optional) and use the Vita's Near function. Ono doesn't think it will reach 100% of fighting game potential on the Vita, though. You can also connect it to a PS3.
PlayStation mascots Toro and Kuro will be playable characters in the PS Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken.
Square Enix will be making two launch titles for the Vita. An action RPG called Lord of Apocalypse, and another game called Army Corps of Hell.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 comes out in Japan in December.
Square Enix will be making an HD remake for the PS3 and Vita of Final Fantasy X! YES!
It isn't the FFVII remake we all wanted, but good enough.
Hideo Kojima on stage now. Expecting something MGS or Zone of the Enders related. And right on signal, he announced the MGS HD collection is coming to the PS Vita in 2012.
Zone of the Enders HD Collection launches in 2012, will also drop onto the Vita in addition to the PS3 and 360.
Kojima is working on a new original game, he's directing and designing it. He can't really talk about it yet, though.
Sony's turn to announce games.
Hot Shots Golf 6 up first.
Yuusha no Kiroku announced, it is sort of an RPG that creates monsters in the Vita's calendar and gives you a hero to fight them.
Sony announced Friends Network, basically a Mii Plaza for the Vita.
NicoNico Douga, a popular Japanese video sharing site, will be supported on Vita.
Japan has 26 launch titles for the Vita.
100 games are planned to come to the Vita.
Most downloadable PSP games can be played on the Vita, with dual-analog support even.
No UMD support, obviously, but Sony is looking into doing something for those with UMDs, like they said they were doing with the PSP Go, maybe some kind of download.
The Vita goes on preorder in Japan on October 15th.
There are 80 Vita games at the Tokyo Game Show, so we'll see most of the system's early library this week. Correction, there are 80 Vita demo units, only 31 games on hand.
