Id argue that Road Dogg was the 2nd most over wrestler in the entire company in 1998, only behind Austin. People LOVED the dude.

I think people think of Road Dogg as a mid card guy back then, and when they think of mid card guys now, they think of guys getting beaten into powder on a regular basis and appearing on NXT. Road Dogg then is more over then any top baby face now. Road Dogg shows up as a Slammy Award presenter, and people remember his catchphrases from 10 years ago like they heard them yesterday.

Seriously? A man who was part of one of the biggest factions in wrestling history, had a legendary introduction that people said in unison, and a man whose merchandise sales was higher than anybody else's at one point except for The Rock and Austin (and he didn't have that much merchandise) Name one classic Road Dogg match. Exactly. This really means nothing. He was super over, he was a draw and sold tickets. That's what matters.

And if you want to go kayfabe, he was 1/2 of one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history. More than enough to get the label of legend, IMO though I do think that terms gets thrown around too much by WWE.

Is Billy Gunn a "legend" too? I'd guess everyone who's competed in a WWE ring more than 10 years ago is a "WWE legend". To say he not a legend or Billy Gunn for that matter is redictulous. Honestly who in WWE history has held more Tag team titles the Billy Gunn back in a time where they ment something. He and Roadogg where one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history and where a big part of one of the biggest factions in wrestling history. The Roadogg was one of these most popular acts in the WWE during it's peak. If you can to this day have the crowd resite his catchphrase from over ten years ago. Yeah you don't something. Match quality means little when you have that. I mean honestly Andre the Giant is one of the biggest legends in history. Now is he ever known for match quality?

I didn't watch Road Dogg to be wowed by his amazing ring skills, I watched him to be entertained, and he was entertaining as ALL hell.
