"Punk released a video statement moments ago ... in response to Brown's allegations that he's a steroid-abuser with an inadequate penis." LOL

This entire thing disgusts me. Punk & Brown getting into it was bad enough, but the WWE should be ashamed of themselves for pouring gas on the fire. It is honestly the most disgusting promotional tactic since Eddiesploitation.

I wonder how Linda McMahon's campaign feels about WWE mentioning this? Her opponents will probably say that WWE is using domestic violence to promote their product.

I'm absolutely delighted that Punk wants to severely beat Brown. I don't think I can say anything more on this topic without infringing the board rules.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised. I mean, this is WWE we're talking about, a company that thrives on getting publicity any way they can.

If WWE brings Chris Brown to Mania I will not order the show period. I would hope others would do the same.

They'll probably lampshade everyone's complaints by having Johnny Ace be the one who brings Chris Brown in and Punk can cut a "shoot" promo where he talks about how disgusted he is by the angle and the fact that Brown is getting a big payday out of it.

It is honestly the most disgusting promotional tactic since Eddiesploitation. I don't see this being anywhere near as callous as using a tragic death for heat. It's just one of their wrestlers trading jabs with a pop star and WWE mentioning it.

I didn't think there would be anything (outside of a Benoit'ing) that would make me dislike Punk but damned if this isn't doing it.

I'm not sure that the WWE has thought this through.

I'm not sure that the WWE has thought this through. I don't either. I think they're going to spend the rest of this week frantically trying to call up Brown and get him to come to Mania because initially, I think they just tried to use this to say "WE'RE MAINSTREAM! WE'RE HIP! WE'RE COOL! LIKE US DAMMIT!" type of thing.

Okay, I'm sorry. As much as it disgusts me to say this... I think we're being worked-- no, trolled. Chris Brown is a year older than I am. The most popular wrestling boom of his time should have been the Attitude Era, or else the Monday Night Wars. He could have said anyone from Rock, to Austin, to Goldberg, to Shawn Michaels. Yet, he says Bret Hart, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Koko B. Ware; only Bret among them doesn't reasonably predate him, and he spells at least two of those names completely wrong. That, compounded with the fact that they're plugging this shit on Smackdown right now... *sigh* I have this sick feeling in my gut that they're planning on making this a real angle. And lets not pretend that Vince McMahon wouldn't stoop that low. Especially if he sees a payday on the other end of the tunnel.

I don't think that Punk did this for publicity nor do I think that Brown will end up getting a WWE Payday as a result. I do think that this is just another case of WWE milking mainstream publicity for all its worth.
It will die down in a few days I think, so we probably won't see any long term angle out of it. #wishfulthinking
