I'm getting the feeling that in a couple more years, the Miz having main evented a Wrestlemania will be, like Jack Swagger being a former world champion, one of those slightly embarassing bits of trivia that comes up now and then which everyone otherwise tries to block out of their memory.

Poor Miz. After WINNING in the main event of WM last year, I scoffed at the people who said he'd be shunted right back down to the midcard or even lower after his title reign ended. I scoffed because WWE seemed intent on making him THE guy. Of course, they did everything but actually give him credible wins, but I sincerely thought he was going to be on top permanently after last year. To think, he might not even make the card this year. LAST YEAR'S MAIN EVENTER might not even make the card. That's insane to think. Has anyone ever main evented a WM and failed to make the card the following year, barring injury or release? It seems unprecedented. Does a lost smile count? |
