Gruenwald which is directly south of Munich. While nobody even most germany don't know where Gruenwald is (it's funny where some people think it is, from Berlin to somewhere west, i heard many guesses) at least munich should be known. It's funny that Gruenwald is so unknown, thinking about how many "famous" people live here, the Bavaria Filmstudios (movies like Das Boot and Neverending Story were made or at least partially made here) are here and generally it should be known better.
Gruenwald means basically Green Forest and that's what it is, lots of forests around the city, even a small castle, it's very nice to live here (despite all the famous people and their groupies, but at least it leads to funny encounters, i once told Oliver Kahn (Goalkeeper from Bayern Munich/German national soccer team until a couple of years ago) that he's an asshole and he looked at me really weird. It was worth it ;D

While I now live in Chicago, I consider my hometown, a very small village west of Chicago, Wayne. It's mostly a horse town, and at one time you could ride your horse and stable it at my elementary school. My Grandparents still have their house and barn here, where I kept my horse for years. Spending our holidays here where it has been snowing beautifully all day long.
