Not bad. I get the vibe from the interview that she operates somewhere in the vicinity of me (I'm outside of Pittsburgh). Of course, like you, I now feel like a bum because this chick is a huge fan of all the things I'm a fan of, but she actually hustles to DO THINGS involving those things, while I just kinda sit here and type about them on this forum. Oh well. *shrug*

Don't Look in the Basement- A nurse takes a new job in a psychiatric ward and discovers a killer may be on the loose. Interesting characters (mainly Sam) help keep this movie afloat, as there's a whole lot of nothing going on.
Final Rating: C+
Black Belly of the Tarantula- A killer is on the loose and is poisoning his victims with the sting of a wasp. This paralyzes them, but keeps them alive to witness their death (which involves having their stomach carved open). This is how a wasp kills a tarantula, which we actually get to see midway through the film. A cop is on the case to find the killer, which gives us a lot of beautiful scenery. Tremendous giallo horror!
Final Rating: B+
Dead & Buried- Tourists are being killed in Potters Bluff, only for them to reappear as townspeople shortly after. A newly returned cop tries to unravel the mystery with the help of the town coroner. Well written characters and an intriguing story get soured a bit by the ending, but still worth watching.
Final Rating: B
Prince of Darkness- I fell asleep watching this last night and, to be quite honest, don't feel like finishing it. It's well-directed by Carpenter and has some great cinematography, but the characters are dull and the story isn't that interesting. If I do decide to finish this in the future, I'll give an actual review/rating.
As you can tel, I'm getting into the swing of Halloween season. Last year, I didn't get a whole lot of horror watched. I'm making up for that this year. I'm going to be putting up my Halloween decorations shortly, which always puts me in the mood. So do storms, which we've been getting lately.

And one of them - the 1972 film entitled Tales From the Crypt (no relation to the legendary TV series) - is an undisputed (in my own mind, anyway) classic, containing one segment where a widower wishes her undead husband back to life, not knowing that he'll come back to life f**king AS IS. Namely, dilapidated, decaying, and burning like hell from the formaldehyde. Money. Just going back to that for a second, it's funny how that guy totally gets the shaft in this flick. All the other characters get some legit comeuppance for murder, general cruelty or infidelity while this fellow gets killed, wished back, burned alive, chopped up and sent to Hell due to....being a business man forced into bankruptcy, pretty odd. Actually, I wonder how it was he even got to Hell, he can't die, ever!

I'm working on a Wolfman review in the Good, Bad, and Ugly style to post here later. It's actually the second review of those I'm doing today, cause I have another to post on my site at night. The Wolfman review, though, is a Horror thread exclusive. Don't you feel special?

Good review. I understand what you're saying in regards to the violence. For me, it didn't seem frightening or scary. It came across as a bit cartoonish, to be honest. Not enough to drag the film down, but enough to halt it. Still, a good remake with a great cast!

This is as good a place to ask this question as any other. I was just watching Freddy VS Jason and I'm wondering what was the point of having it be a draw? Spoliers for anyone who hasn't the movie. {Spoiler}Jason cuts off freddy's head and it seems as though Freddy's dead but then he begins to talk. Seriously why couldn't one of them have just one? Would anyone think one of them wasn't coming back if they died in the film?

Didn't they also say they went for a draw in Freddy vs. Jason to make everybody happy?

Yeah, it is really slow, but the lead girl is a beautiful redhead, so that alone holds my attention. ;D BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA sounds pretty good. Mikey: Nice review of THE WOLFMAN. I said when it came out that it felt almost like a comic book movie because the gore/action had that kind of vibe. I enjoyed the film (I enjoy monster mashes and comic books about equally), and got it for REAL cheap at the last video store in town's going-out-of-business sale. *thumbs up*

Didn't they also say they went for a draw in Freddy vs. Jason to make everybody happy? I watched the movie and I thought Jason won. Jason ends up in his own lake and isn't that badly injured. Meanwhile Freddy is out of the dreamworld, has his arm chopped off has his arm with claw then smashed though his chest and is finally decapitated. That's a loss even if he did wink at the very end.
