Nod my head on most of these people's posts here.
Am I the first one to really also mention that it gets us people together to talk about it in ways they can't imagine.
Going to my first live show in 2010 made me, and my brother meet new people that way, and the result is us now having a bunch of friends who we talk to on a daily basis now. Without it, I don't know where I would be, really.
Speaking of my brother, wrestling was the common interest that actually got us more connected with one another. Back then, we were the typical "brothers". Didn't really care for one another, but wrestling helped us bond. Sucks that he pretty much moved out, because I have no one to talk to around the house about it anymore. Texting here and there, and the CHIKARA shows, but that's it.

Because it's dumb. Because it makes me laugh. Because it's entertaining. Because it gives me chills. Because once in a while, it can actually make me cry a little bit. Because it's just f***ing awesome.

Because it's thrilling at best and hilarious at its worst. That's an excellent way to put it. I'm a big fan of pre-Attitude era wrestling because of the larger-than-life characters and in-ring storytelling. Man, the characters were so good back then. That's not a knock to today's performers, but it is a criticism of today's booking and heavily scripted promos. Even people who aren't fans of wrestling know and like wrestlers like Andre, Savage, Piper, etc.

Because there's only one guy who can put that badass in his place. Our hero reminds everyone that payback is a bitch!
I love wrestling because when it's stupid it's stooopid, but when it's great, it's really great. That's what keeps me watching.

To me it always seemed like superheroes come to life and whatnot,Just always digged the athleticism and over the top spectacle of it.

Like the Playboy said, it's also a link to our family history.
Wrestling fandom in my family goes back to the '40s. My uncle (my mom's brother) would see the wrestlers together - heels & faces - playing softball at Harrison Park, the afternoon before a show at the Hammond Civic Center. (Angelo Poffo being one of the top stars at the time.) My dad was a young kid around the same time up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, sneaking into the Italian-American Club with a buddy of his, getting to ringside and razzing Gypsy Joe (Dorsetti) about his "muscular build", and his feud/rivalry with local hero Billy Goelz. ("It was always Billy Goelz & Gypsy Joe every week. Always for some title." And he can never remember what Billy's nickname was, " 'The Mayor Of...' some town. People went nuts for him.")
Later on, my dad moved down here and met my mom. They'd go to shows at the Civic Center and the old Chicago Amphitheater. Dick the Bruiser, Crusher, Baron Von Raschke. These were men bigger than life.
I'm keeping the tradition alive.
