And isn't a second developmental sort of redundant (I know they've done that before but seems weird now)? If they'd do it right and have them be teaching/training different ways it could be a huge help to a lot of the guys WWE signs without prior experience. I just don't think they'd do that.

This is crazy, and out of nowhere. What I can't wrap my mind around is, other than the fact that WWE is based out of Stamford, why uproot everyone and start a new dev territory? Especially in an area where the cost of living is so expensive? At least Florida is a more affordable state to live in. Now I can see a lot of wrestlers not being able to live in CT and compete, further whittling down the pool of wrestlers willing to train for a shot at the big time.
This is just making me scratch my head now...

Well, death to the clone factory. Good. Now I hope they start a new one that will leave some room to originality in the way people look and wrestle. Sad that a wrestling show goes off the air, though. You haven't been watching FCW at all have you?

Too many superstars under developmental contracts to just not have one. Having in CT, saves the company money, by not having to pay talents flights to shoot promos at HQ I suppose...

This is great news.
FCW was probably the worst development territory ever associated with the WWF/E. Was simply garbage. I know that it got interesting since they signed on Black, Hero, Claudio, and that other dude who's name escapes me (the crazy dude with the good pre-tapes), but they will travel to the new territory and it will be better.
New location + new trainers = potential to get back to where developmental used to be.

Maybe Triple H saw the weird yellow splotches in new FCW photos and thought everyone was getting diseased down there.

they're closing FCW but moving a few miles north to their new developmental territory, Impact Wrestling out of Orlando, Florida. I've heard they even have their own studio.

I know you're joking, but that's really something they should try and hammer out at some point. It's not like TNA's gun shy about fitting as many people as possible on TV, and it'd probably help them to be in a working deal of some sort with WWE.

And you are seeing more and more where they miss OVW. Sure the track record for guys coming up wasn't always the best, but OVW was insanely well booked and the guys there learnt how to work a crowd and develop their personalities. And the show looked decent on tv Not only that, but it did good live event business, wasn't pre-empted from its Saturday night timeslot once in its entire eight year run under the WWE banner, and (to the best of my knowledge) remains the only developmental league that's actually turned the company a profit. I watched a Best of OVW DVD about a month ago from 2002. Along with Batista and John Cena clearly being stars, it's a shame to see how much potential was lost by teaming the Basham Brothers up. Danny and Doug on their own were each downright spectacular. Plus, Rico is maybe their greatest missed prospect of the past decade.

Wait.... wait....wait...wait wait Are you telling me that Kassius OhNo isn't a black man? And he isn't an FCW trainee either, he's a veteran on the indys, all three are. What I mean, is those guys that they found under a rock that they trained from scratch or almost, that they all look and wrestle the same. Fit white guy, 6'0" tall or around that, can't talk, has a CAW moveset. Of course, it's not 100% as far as looks go, but as far as in-ring style, it is! That's the problem with having just one Developmental Territory. Everyone who has started training there, or has little training experience gets trained by the same people, in the same way, so ends up with the same style, and end up spending half their time wrestling other guys with the same style. Not good. What the WWE could look at doing is spending more on developmental, and have (say) five different territories across North America. Redevelop FCW, use Booker's training school and promotion (remember he was pushing for it to be the territory when they went the FCW route, so he wouldn't be adverse to extending it - and we wouldn't have to put up with his commentary), create a new setup in New York/New England, and then find somewhere in and around the old USWA/SMW areas for the fourth, then use Storm's Academy and the promotion he's booking for a fifth. When the WWE Network is up and running, you can show a different developmental territory every weeknight as a pre Raw/Smackdown/NXT show. Then, split the trainees amongst the five. Yeah, it may suck that a load of guys will have to move again, but if they want to make it in the WWE, they'll have to learn to spend 300 days a year on the road anyway, so it's not a major sacrifice. Sign a handful of guys with experience - a mixture of wrestlers who used to be in the WWE, a handful of guys for each territory who've never made it there, but are good hands in the ring, so the wrestlers have variety in who they work with. Don't give them exclusive contracts (so they can work elsewhere), but let them know that the door isn't closed. And while each wrestler will spend most of their time at one developmental, no wrestler who isn't considered TV ready when they sign can be called up before they've spent time in at least three territories, so they work with a variety of trainers doing a variety of styles. If so Jacques Rougeau beats FCW at producing talent. Lance Storm got a guy on TV, the Indian guy, and he had another one signed, and I think a girl too. Rikishi trained his sons and they got contracts. If you really start you can see where the problem was: How is STEVE KEIRN going to each anybody anything? He was a tag team wrestler in a team that was quite good BUT never THAT good and Keirn himself...basic, solid, harmless... but no, I don't want that guy training my wrestlers. TRIPLE H now, that's a guy I want training my wrestlers. What an odd thing to say. Keirn was chosen because his Florida based school had a good great background and helped train Dustin Rhodes, Mike Awesome and DDP among others. Keirn was in many tag teams, but was also the champion in two of the bigger territories in the 1980s before the WWE went national. Being successful in wrestling (indeed any sport) and being great at teaching people are two different things. Sport is full of names of great players who failed at being coaches. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they tried to work some sort of deal with Lance Storm. They've signed a few of his students and while he was down in OVW the developmental guys thought he was the best trainer they had. Seems that would be a lot of trouble though since they'd have to get so many people to get the right to work in Canada (and Lance has said he isn't traveling). Lance Storm has said he'd travel if the money and the schedule is right.

I wouldn't feel bad about forgetting the name Dean Ambrose though because as much as I love that guy, thats one of the worst names of any talent ever. And man the closing of fcw is awesome news.

Who knows? Maybe this news means that the WWE Network is airing FCW in the fall.
