I read Bret's twitter yesterday, he said he was at a signing (not a WWE organised one which is why i'm putting it here, but mods, move if it needs to be in WWE section), and a fan came up to him with one of Bret's old ring jackets that had been stolen. Bret refused to sign the thing, and was kicking himself for not getting it back. Said he thinks he was just too shocked at seeing that jacket after so long.
How ballsy have you got to be to ask the guy to sign something you stole from him?

Maybe the guy who brought the jacket to the signing bought it from someone else and didn't realize it was stolen?

I was reading about how someone stole Bruno Sammartino's WWWF championship belt from his car in NYC in the 60s...which was a big deal back then when those things were worth a lot. I wondered where that belt was today. Probably in somebody's basement somewhere.
Anyway, I hope someday to come across a homeless guy wearing an old stolen Bret Hart ring jacket.

I believe Bret was at a NEW event recently.
I wonder if the person knew it was a stolen jacket? Or did the person know and was hoping that Bret's stroke affected his memory.

after that recent story of someone going up to Bret and saying "My first live event was here on this date and you faced this guy" with Bret saying "I won that match by countout" I don't doubt Bret remembering every single detail of his career

Bret is such a mark and a baby. Its a leather jacket, he has millions. Let it slide! I do so love how people will run into any thread relating to Bret Hart and use it as an excuse to trash the guy for acting like a *gasp* human being. The monetary value of the item doesn't come into it, it was stolen, end of story. Would you like being asked to sign something you know was stolen from you? I doubt it.

Regardless of whether's he's a baby or not, it takes a lot of gall to ask Bret to autograph one of his stolen belongings.

Bret is such a mark and a baby. Its a leather jacket, he has millions. Let it slide! It depends on which jacket because his mom used too make his ring jackets back in the day. So he would have a good reason too want too keep them.

Bret is such a mark and a baby. Its a leather jacket, he has millions. Let it slide! Yeah, he's a baby because he doesn't like it when people steal things from him. If that's the case, there are a lot of babies in this world. "But he has millions!" doesn't mean he should let people slide for taking his s*** without permission. Stealing is a crime, you know.

Bret is such a mark and a baby. Its a leather jacket, he has millions. Let it slide! Wow. Some people's Bret Hart hatred seems to have no bounds... Bret had several differently styled jackets over his career, and I'm sure they're important for different reasons. This is the particular jacket that he was talking about:

Sports memorabilia is such a big hobby and even business that I would think the jackets changed hands at least once since the theft (and I am very surprised only one person mentioned Pierre). Even without theft some fans wind up with personal memorabilia like game used items from baseball and football players. He should have asked for the fan to step aside until the end, tell him the story (although it seems like he's sure this guy did steal it) and ask for it back if the fan didn't offer at first. The fan could have made good by Bret by offering it to him and maybe even gotten something out of it.

I seem to remember Bret talking about a ring jacket he really liked getting stolen in his book, so I don't doubt he'd remember it.

Wow. I hope that the fan trying to get it signed isn't the same guy that stole it.

I hope he still has the Hart Foundation jacket - given that they were a set worn also by Owen, Bulldog and Anvil then I could see that being special to him. I know he wore it in WCW for a bit with the Hart Foundation section covered, but given how lax security was there then who knows what happened to it.
