Or maybe the Rock wanted to just have a nice pay day?
or
it is ten year(or manias) after Rock/Hogan and just wanted to do a match like that. For all we know the rock could be a fan of wwe.

Every time I try make my peace with Cena winning, since it's where this storyline logically goes, and comfort myself by reminding myself that Cena is seemingly a nice guy off camera, and does great charity work, he comes out with another diatribe like this. As myself and others have said before, it's very easy for John to deride The Rock for leaving for a sucessful career in mainstream movies, because they themselves will never be faced with that choice. Very easy to throw stones at The Rock when you yourself will never have the choices he had. This slightly insidious attitude where having outside interests is frowned upon still strikes me as odd at best, juvenile at worst. If The Rock wants to make Journey 2 instead of putting his body through the ringer [as he did for years] then more power to him. Ditto Chris Jericho with Fozzy. It's their lives, and I think it's kind of a dick move for people like Cena to get on Rock's case for that. John loves his job, good for him. Doesn't mean everyone has to do as he does. Personally, whenever John speaks to these reporters, or at press confrences, in his boxy suit, he sounds like he's reading a company press release, it very rarely sounds like a real person's actual thoughts. I have no doubt John works hard, will win Sunday, and will continue busting his ass for the company. But because that's what works for him, doesn't mean it's right for everyone, and I wish he'd take that on board. To be fair, it's all a storyline. I doubt the "real" Cena (well, the off-screen, non-WWE Cena, at least...) shares this point about Rock.

After seeing what was published in WWE magazine, one would think they're almost preparing for a Cena loss.

Surely by the logic of that excerpt, Rock will still be doing what he wants to after Wrestlemania too? Or are to follow the company line that wrestling is the one true calling?

I think John Cena and by extension the WWE need to get over themselves.
anyone else would've done the same in Rocky's shoes. he'd done everything there was to do. why not make way more money as a hollywood actor for less work, less wear and tear and more time to spend with your family? seriously, there was NO legitimate reason for him to stick with wrestling instead. in no way shape of form would that have been a better deal for him than switching to acting.

The way Cena talks about the company I swear you'd think he was talking about a cult. I love Cena, but maaaan. Haven't you heard? There's a ritual that every new WWE wrestler Superstar has to take part in, in order to become a part of WWE. they have to bang Pat Patterson?

I think jordan vs james is a good comparison. A man who brought new highs to the industry he competed in vs a person whos largely hated. Though, lebron brings in higher ratings. The notion of it being jordan vs jordan is pretty hilarious though. Obviously, Cena is "minor league baseball" Michael Jordan.

Rock is using the WWE to hype his twitter account and try to hit the Hollywood A-List. The WWE's fully aware of this and is using him to try and bring back some lapsed fans and get a huge Mania buyrate. Wait........What?

I have absolutely no idea why benefiting from returning to the WWE and having fun being there need to be mutually exclusive. They don't, and for a lot of people they aren't. But from all the stories floating around there, I'm pretty sure Rock isn't having any fun in the WWE. He's viewing it the same way the CEO of a company would view cleaning the toilets in their building: as something that's below them. I haven't heard any stories that indicate that he's not having fun doing it, so I don't really know what you're making that statement on. I know there were stories about Randy Orton and CM Punk complaining, but that's just as likely to be them annoyed that they aren't in the ME rather than anything having to do with The Rock's feelings (and given that Punk has said that Rock shouldn't come back for anything but a Mania main event, it's likely to be part of the storyline, at least on his end.) As for the other parts, if he felt like it was beneath him, would hyping a twitter account really be cause for coming back? That's just silly to me. And for hitting the A-List, WWE isn't going to help anyone hit the A-list. Anyone in the business knows that. An yeah, I agree with driver. It seriously just sounds like Cena's being the company's mouthpiece every time he criticizes The Rock for leaving. Especially considering that wrestling wasn't his first career choice, and given that he's had his own efforts to try to find success in other genres.

Please lord have this end after Wrestlemania. I don't know how much longer I can hear about what The Rock did or didn't do "For da bidness!" anymore. It's been 7 years since then, get over it.

This was not what I imagined when I thought of Rock coming back that's for sure. I've never been more tired of a feud.

Rock should have been placed in a much better feud or at least a better feud with Cena. I really wished they made a kayfabe-ish angle to play off of. The feud sucks to me, but the match will be great.

The WWE's fully aware of this and is using him to try and bring back some lapsed fans and get a huge Mania buyrate. Not inherently wrong, but you're fooling yourself if you think the Rock loves the WWE and really enjoys being back. I'm assuming he sequesters himself in his private locker room and leaves as quickly as he can every single time he's on TV. You are the only one fooling yourself judging from this statement.

You know, I'm a fan of both these guys, and I'm looking forward to the actual match (I love matches where Cena is in a hostile environment), but I am absolutely sick of this feud.

Who in the living hell uses the WWE (especially now) to make the Hollywood A list, do people here even think before they type this tripe? That's like saying he's making appearences on the Real Housewives of (insert city here) to boost his movie career.

Cena's been fully indoctrinated. The McMahon's are all Reapers and Triple H is already too far gone.

I do however think of it as an adult coming back to his childhood home after being away for years. Remember, Rock DID grow up in the biz, Cena didn't. So Rock would see it as a family home. Once you move out and move on, you come back every now and again, but you don't really want to stay there permanently, cause you've moved on.
