*Reads entire thread, including SEVERAL well though out descriptions of how he's not pretending to be Japanese* .....f*** it, sure, he's pretending to be Japanese, why not? The whole storyline revolving around the squash last night was basically that he was pretending to be Japanese. Maybe not 100%, but most of the way there. Despite them REPEATING over and over that "he's not Japanese"?

Despite them REPEATING over and over that "he's not Japanese"? Like I said, not 100%, but the point of the match was that Yoshi took offense to him ripping off Japanese culture when he was not Japanese, he was offended, he wanted a match, he got his ass kicked. I dunno, maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, it just seems like an unnecessary layer. Especially if he did improve on the mic. Mark Henry this last 12 months or so, has proven that "Vader like monster heel" works.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Lord Tensai. We wish this Japanese Man all the best in all his future Japanese endeavors.

The language barrier probably made it very difficult for him to communicate with people backstage. He should go back to his homeland, Japan, where at least he'll be able to rely on the support of his fellow countrymen. He could have been the first Japanese WWE Champion since Yokozuna (the greatest of all Japanese wrestlers) imho. Sayonara, Lord Tensai.

I just don't understand the point of the chants. Do the crowds think they know something that the rest of us don't? Thats what I was thinking. At least with Mark Henry the "Sexual Chocolate" chants were embarrassing. "Albert" isn't embarrassing, he was a respectable enough Midcarder. I don't get what chanting that is supposed to achieve. I think it's possible they'll just add Albert to his name: Lord Albert Tensai. I'm not sure he'd like the demotion to lord, he used to be a prince!

Only if they let it (which they probably will).
They need to address his past as Albert more directly. They are at least addressing that he has a past with the company, but are being way, way too vague about it. Since he is a heel anyway they need him to cut a promo where he admits to being Albert and says that picked up skills, the dark arts, whatever in Japan. Where once he was filled with weaknesses he is now strong and ready to places in the WWE that he couldn't before.
Some lazy armchair booking on my part, but something like that would be good.

I think they should have him try to communicate, but have it be in stereotypical broken english.
Then periodically show him backstage briefly talking in perfect english until he realizes the camera is on him, then he immediately acquires a thick accent and poor grammar.

Hell, go for it 200% and give him the INDEED gimmick too.

FWIW, that senton splash looks more brutal than either of his finishers.

Id say yes, but since there is no competition for Vince and Co, nothing will be done about it, and he will still be Tensai until creative runs him into the ground and endeavors him cuz he will be forced to continue a gimmick no one can believe in. Then he will go back to Japan and be mega over again.

I think when he faces Big Show (which he has to, soon) it'll be a big developmental feud for the character. Why? Because they know each other VERY well, and that should be acknowledged. Hell, they teamed up against Undertaker at WRESTLEMANIA once.
So here's how I'd book it - Tensai jumps Big Show after a match, beating the hell out of him. Backstage, Tensai and Sakamoto are walking out of the arena when Big Show confronts him, yelling at him about what the hell that was all about. Tensai refuses to speak, and Sakamoto says something threatening in Japanese, before Tensai mists Big Show in the eyes and beats him down again until security separates him. The next week there's a sit-down studio promo with Big Show, who talks about how he knows Tensai from back in the day when he was A-Train, and their history (with clips interspersed) but saying that when he saw Tensai backstage at Raw he was glad to see him and tried to talk to him, but he wouldn't say a word, and looked like a completely changed person, like Big Show didn't even know him anymore. Then he'd talk about last week's attack and say that the man he knew is gone, and Lord Tensai is a very different - and very dangerous - new threat.
Once Big Show comes to terms with this, he'll gain his confidence back, and say that he may have been friends with A-Train a long time ago, but he's become a different person now, someone that Big Show is gonna have to destroy, saying HE'S changed in the last few years too, referring to how he now has the WMD. (Show loses the feud of course, and Tensai becomes IC champ)
The angle would put over his personal transformation, his emotionlessness, and connect him to his past while establishing that he's no longer that person, and giving him a title to establish him as a competitor in the process.

I like Lord Tensai but I think he should change up his move set. Alot of his moves a basically finishers. The Under hook suplex thing, the back splash, the splash in the corner, the sitting choke bomb, The claw, the claw drop.
it's just finisher after finisher .
BTW, I like the idea of flat out announcing he was Albert then having a story about how he's a changed man. But because it's WWE that'll probably mean they'll give him Multiple personality disorder or something

The stupidity of the gimmick will ruin the gimmick. He's doing virtually all the same things he did as Albert. Same moves, same yelling, he looks fatter than ever. The "Japanese" element just looks dumb.

Sod Albert, I'm waiting for the Hip-Hop Hippo chants !
On another note maybe they can bring that Nakamora (I think) guy to feud with him. He's quite chubby as well.

As hilarious as the Japanese jokes in this thread have gotten, I still just can't get over how WEIRD people are about this whole thing.
When Kofi Kingston was EXPLICITLY announced as being from a different country than he actually is, there wasn't this eye-rolling uproar about COME ON WHY IS HE PRETENDING TO BE JAMAICAN? There's this whole weird vibe of racial/cultural purity embedded in all this... like it's more unacceptable and intelligence-insulting for a white guy to be immersed in Japanese culture (even though in real life he's lived in Japan for years) than it is a black guy from one country full of black people to act like he's from another country full of black people.

There's a difference, though. Kofi's gimmick was that he actually was Jamaican. Tensai's gimmick is that he's a White dude that's acting Asian because he thinks that culture is superior.
