It was okay, but I think Brendan Fraser had better roles.

I don't see how someone could possibly be disappointed with Blast From the Past. Are you blind? Can you not see that Brendan Frasers fragile yet tender performance as the naive Adam is not the most perfect portrait of naivety since the inimitable John Howard Davies breathed life into the body of the trusting and innocent Oliver Twist in David Leans classic adaptation of Charles Dickens revelatory classic? I don't see how you couldnt. Though upon seeing the cinema classic for the first time,I was blocked from seeing Brendans masterclass in acting by Alicia Silverstones performance as the down on her luck yet good natured Eve. A performance with all of the beauty of Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc. Also,Much like Dreyers heroine she didn't need words to convey the emotional whirlwind going on inside of her. However much like christmas, the movie decided to give us the gift of words. It was also quite clever for Director/Writer Hugh Wilson(creator of such transgressive works of art as WKRP in Cincinnati and Police Academy) to use the name eve for his heroine given eve typically being a name associated with sin and temptation. Him deciding to associate the name Eve with a woman who more exemplifies the caring nuturing breast of mother nature than the apple biting femme fatale is not just his only feat of clever though. He also turned adam from an easily corrupted sinner into a good intentioned man with a strong moral compass. That was not just an act of transgressive brilliance. That was an act of kindness that no doubt adam and eve somewhere are personally thanking him for everyday because they are finally freed from the prison of their own failed sense of morality. I would also be remiss that if before I finished this I left out Christopher Walken's tragic turn as Calvin. He somehow managed to pull off a performance that combined the neroutic paranoia of Anthony Perkins as Josef K in Orson Welles claustrophobic classic adaptation of Kafkas The Trial with the aged and doomed to repeat ones mistakes characterisation of Henry Fonda's Norman in on golden pond. All of this filtered through a filter distinctly Walken allowing him to give one of his most underrated performances since pennies from heaven. I think that Blast From the Past is a revelatory work that is at turns emotionally raw, tragic, bittersweet and all quite absurd much like life itself and to be disappointed with that must mean that one is disappointed with life itself and has forgotten it's glories. Funny story about that movie. I watched it at a friend's house back in 8th or 9th grade with him and his dad. His dad fell asleep during the movie and was probably really high or something. A few hours later, we were playing video games in his room when his dad barges in and says "I know this is going to sound crazy, but what year is it?!?!"

I'm stoked. It should be fun. And, it's on a Tuesday, so I can watch it live without spoilers. I'm not expecting to see the Smackdown "fist" or the Ovaltron. But I'd like to see a classic WWF style set (probably won't happen either). I'm looking at it like this: It's not going to be a "Smackdown: Blast from the Past" it's going to be a "Blast from the Past of the WWE/WWF" show on Smackdown.

I want attitude/new gen stars in the blast from the past. it's just Mick Foley and the same old grandpas we always get. it's always Piper, Hacksaw, and Dusty.
I want Mankind! Vader! Scotty 2 Hotty! Rikishi! Brooklyn Brawler! Funaki! Mantaur! Aldo Montoya! Albert!

Rumor is it's supposed to set up the eventual Scy-Fy debut of Legends House on the network. So the dudes in the house will be the focus. And those dudes happen to be the usual suspects like Piper, Okerlund, Duggan, etc.

I can see this episode of Smackdown sucking to be honest if too much focus is on the legends doing their same old boring routine. Piper is always fun but the rest of them are boring. Hopefully they have just one group segment, piper's pit, a comedy bit with Ted & Santino and that's it

And now you may be disappointed. Gotta love how they didn't even bother with an old-school set or opening or anything. Just tons of legends, most of whom did nothing.

These guys are on the payroll, so use them up. why do you thing McMahon's stooges got all that airplay. He was paying them already. The recent past guys keep coming back for Mania. You have to reach to the road agents. It was OK for what it was, expected and no more.

I always try to enjoy these specials, but tonight just wasn't fun at all. I hate that they always promise that old stars will be returning, but really it's just the road agents trying to fit into their old tights... oh, and Roddy Piper and Hacksaw. It's the same thing every time. I'd love to see some guys from the mid-90s or the attitude era who we haven't seen in a long time. Seeing Slaughter out there just depresses me.

I personally wish we had gotten The Rock, even if just to Arrive, Rock Bottom, and Leave on someone.
Also, Randy Orton should've wrestled in the Blue and yellow bike shorts for just one night, and come out to Burn in My Light with the pyro waterfall and everything.

Just once when they do one of these retro shows, I want Stevie Richards to come out with the RTC gimmick and try to find something to complain about, realize the product is PG, then shrug his shoulders and leave.

As others have said it wasn't a Blast From The Past Smackdown, it was Smackdown: Blast From the Past. It's too bad, because I too was hoping for the fist and all the other 99-00 era Smackdown stuff but as soon as I heard who the "legends" were going to be, I knew what we'd get.
Sadly, these are the guys who are alive still. Yeah the Attitude era guys could/should be used but a lot of these era guys are still employed/in Vince's ear so he's going to use them. Oh how I wish Rude, Hennig, Pillman were still around to appear on shows like this.
Overall, the show was pretty terrible. Seems like whenever the WWE has tried to have any sort of "special" lately, it sucks. ESPECIALLY the live Smackdowns, for whatever reason.

'Old School' to WWE can be anything up to about 5 years ago. We might just get appearances from Kenzo Suzuki, Orlando Jordan and Jesús. Is Jesus going to get the win back for his dad from Vince at Backlash 2006?

It wasn't the worst wrestling show that I've ever seen, and I did enjoy some of the Legends segments (namely Hacksaw & Sarge smacking Hunico with a 2x4)... But, I agree that WWE drops the ball with the Live Smackdowns. Just from the fact of it being aired live gives the WWE a chance to do something special & beat the dirt sheets to the spoilers... But, then again, maybe they only put on mediocre live Smackdown's because they don't expect that they'll get as many viewers when it airs live on Tuesday, because Friday is the normal time slot people expect to see Smackdown....
