Holy shit this finale.
Also I hope Asami and Bolin become a thing.

So, odds Tarrlok gets to the afterlife, sees Korra healing everyone, and just goes, "F***, I should have stayed in my cell"?

Wow, that feels like a series finale besides leaving the Asami stuff up in the air. Wonder what the hell they're doing for season two to top that. But yeah, great ending. I thought I heard that they were just intending this to be a miniseries at first, so in that light the ending would make sense. I agree that it totally felt like a series finale, but damn, what a way to end it.

does anyone get the feeling that somehow amon and tarrlock isn't dead As said above, this was intended to be a stand-alone miniseries. So no, I definitely think they're gone.

I'm so torn about the Amon/Tarrlok scene, only because a) I love it since it completely flies in the face of what's expected for a "kid's show" but b) Amon being such a great villain I was hoping he'd come back for season 3 or something.
Loved the ending, but I echo other people's sentiments--that felt like a series finale.

Sorry, but this ending was BS. The writing was all over the place, Korra didn't really get to develop her airbending/relearn bending due to deus ex machina shenanigans, and Mako & Korra becoming official just doesn't make sense because their "chemistry" was so forced (oh, and Mako hasn't officially broken up with Asami yet.)
I blame this mostly on it being a self-contained 12-episode season and not a proper ~20 episode season, but that ending fell so flat so fast.
Edit: But hey, at least we got a on-screen murder-suicide on a kid's show! I enjoyed that.

Tarrlok... I dunno, Yue saved him.

I would've liked to see a few episodes dedicated to Korra tapping more into her spiritual side to get to the Avatar State first, but then there's buildup to Avatar State > Blood Bending as established in the flashback ep. I had a feeling it was going to happen, but it happened quicker than I thought.
The Mako/Korra stuff felt kinda forced but everything else was fantastic. And if this leads to eventual Bolin and Asami stuff, then I'm all for it. I have a feeling they'd be a really fun couple to watch develop. Just hope it happens.

Pretty damn good, considering they weren't expecting a second season. Although I pity the writers that now have to figure out a way to up the ante.

Gotta admit, I'm a tad deflated thinking that since Korra has gone into John Cena mode, any threat in season 2 she's going to handle with ease. What's the draw when I know she's going to overcome the odds? That's what made "The Last Airbender" work so well, because while Aang was strong and getting stronger throughout the show, most times he went into the Avatar state it wasn't consciously so, and then couldn't for all of Season 3 until the series finale.
Season 2 needs to have a personal threat (Asami heel turn?) or a return of an untied knot (Azula?) or Korra goes Dark Phoenix or something, I don't know...

Tarrlok... I dunno, Yue saved him. Amon being a waterbender isn't going to help him, considering he didn't see it coming at all. He'd most likely be dead before even piecing together what happened. Besides, their story is over. I'd personally see no reason to bring them back. I hope they focus on another element of Republic City with real story potential... like the Triads. Please? EDIT: On second though, since Korra has access to the Avatar State and Energybending, maybe the triads wouldn't be capable enemies. Something to do with the Spirit World, then?

At one point before Korra tapped into the Avatar State, I was thinking how a good story arc for Season 2 could be her learning the other three elements all over again, but I'm going to give the writers the benefit of the doubt. With the universe they've established, it shouldn't be too hard for them to come up with good enemies.

Oh, I agree, I'd really rather they didn't come back, I was just answering the question. I think the Triads are kind of a weak step from here, though, particularly since I could see Korra passing on restoring most of the higher-ups among them. Not that Amon didn't do some good there.

Eh, I dunno. Koh was kind of one-note - sort of an all-purpose Spirit World arc would be cool, but don't think you could do much with anything we already know about it.
Also, man was Emo-Voiced Iroh pretty much useless or what? To the story, I mean - he only really served to resolve problems introduced to cut him off in the first place.

I admit, upon seeing Aang what I initially hoped was that Book 2 would center on Korra now being tapped into her past lives and taking a spiritual journey to rediscover her lost bending. But, again, since it was meant as a short series they had to do it this way.
Still, it doesn't mean certain things can't be worked around to create a solid Book Two. Korra was at her most "receptive" to her past lives, and they directly met her and aided her...but does that necessarily mean she's 100% harnessed those skills? She might still need to grow in her spirituality, in order to fully master it.

She also has to hone her airbending. She JUST learned to tap into her air bending powers, and it was in a moment of absolute desperation. Doesn't mean she's mastered it by any stretch.
This makes me want to level my neglected enhancement Shaman (aka, the benders of WoW) and give him two fist weapons. >_>
