Oh, I think it's good although the format of the end of Jimmy V's life, then going back to the 1983 NC State Championship year...........is interesting.
By the way, that ESPY speech is still inspirational and can bring me to tears even to this day.

By the way, I did like them showing the reunion at a restaurant where they were talking about those moments because in an interview, people try to think about what would be the best thing to say. The restaurant environment with others makes things more informal and you get some gems out of that.
Oh and no one probably remembers that book that would end Jim Valvano's coaching career. It just shows how unmemorable that book was.

Bill Simmons @billsimmons 19h Watching a rough cut of our @30for30 about the 1983 NFL Draft (coming next month). Multiple fan bases will need group therapy after this.

I was disappointed to see that they took a potential great topic for a full length documentary (the 1972 Olympic Basketball gold medal game) and turned it into a 15 minute short.

Hang the guilty and threaten the innocent, has become too common a course of action for NCAA programs

So far the episode looks like it could be one of the best of the series

So Ryan Leaf was karmic payback on the Chargers for what they pulled with Elway and the Colts in the '83 Draft?
And the Colts got karmic payback from that mess, by getting Peyton Manning and later on Andrew Luck.
Oh my Zod, that describes the Raiders perfectly, Al Davis asking if Elway can throw deep.

Let's see, Sox get killed, Celts about to go down 0-2 and now I get reminded about Tony Eason. (puke)I'm surprised I haven't smashed my tv yet.

He did get your team farther than it ever got, but only really fell because his body wasn't able to take the abuse. Really did enjoy the documentary and got a chuckle out of several of the teams picks ala Pittsburgh (although kind of feel bad that their draft pick ended up paralyzed for life that year)

Wasn't bad, but I'm not sure if it was a story that couldn't have been told in 60 minutes as opposed to 90.

Well I wonder if you going to follow up the episode about the 1983 NFL draft with a film about the 1984 NBA draft, one of the greatest drafts ever.

Amazing all the teams Elway could have ended up on, especially the Yankees. And all those teams Marino could have been on... imagine if he was a Steeler in 1983. Wow.

I'm finally sitting down to watch "Elway to Marino" and I'm surprised at how much of a pretentious, whiny little primadonna bitch John Elway was.

^i was too young to care about football. So like you I was taken back by Elway's attitude. I have buried Eli Manning and TO for yrs because of their "I don't wanna play there" attitude. He'll Jim Kelly too. But at least Kelly was honest enough to say it was the $ and that he was wrong about buffalo
