I got a Visa gift card I want to buy something on Amazon and I understand you apply it like a credit card and not a gift card when you pay. When I did that, under name I didnt put my name I put "Gift Card Recipient" because that was the name on the card. Was I supposed to put my name or did I screw up and was I supposed to call up or go online to activate the card or was it already activated when the person bought it for me ?

Usually you have to activate the card yourself. The slip with the card should give you a website to go to.
I did this too a few days ago but didn't realize I didn't activate it like I thought I did at first so it rejected it, so I told Amazon to try again and then I activated it. I'm still not exactly sure if it worked since the order technically hasn't gone through.

I tried activating it and it said its already activated. I called the 1 800 number on the card to check the balance and they already deducted the amount for the item I purchased. I have no idea whats going on, I have little experience using gift cards online. I only get them like once a year for Christmas.

Yeah, I just called the number to double check the balance too and the amount was deducted, but I didn't get an email from Amazon saying it was. Maybe just wait for a shipping confirmation email? That's what I'm gonna do.

Oh yeah I was very very careful not to overspend and go over the card limit.
