Following up a story from earlier in the week that seemed strange. Now it's gaining traction:
SPORTSbyBROOKS Multiple sources, including one inside UT football program, told me today Mack Brown will likely be forced out at Texas.

ClayTravisBGID Clay Travis Could T. Boone Pickens and Jerry Jones not make an unsanctioned 12/17 game between OSU and Bama happen at Jerry's World? Winner gets LSU.

I know that if it's LSU vs. Bama 2: Electric Boogaloo, I won't be watching. I have zero interest in a rematch.
If it's LSU vs. OK State, I'm definitely watching. LSU could very well blow them out, but at least it'd be a game I haven't already seen.

While the AP poll doesn't count in the BCS standings, Oklahoma State got 22 2nd place votes to Alabama's 38, and Bama is 18 points ahead of Okie State for 2nd.

Yeah, they've had a few bad seasons, but you're going to force out a coach that won you an NC not that long ago? This is why I don't blame coaches, players, etc. for not being loyal to a program. The people in charge have no patience whatsoever. If Texas had had a decade of futility, I could understand. But they haven't.

Weren't they in the NC game two years ago, too? Sure Bama beat them, but being #2 is nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm curious. Do you think we're going to have a situation like a few years ago where coaches intentionally voted one of the two down more to try to get the other team in?

All those ballots get revealed later tonight I believe, so that's going to be fascinating to pour through.

State down more, or coaches in the Big 12 voting them up more, maybe we can finally get rid of this stupid tradition of letting the coaches vote. It was never a good idea.

If the NC Game is LSU/Alabama then that means that the SEC will no longer be unbeaten in BCS National Championship games. They'll be 8-1.
You know, if we had a playoff, this whole argument about #2 wouldn't be an issue....
1. LSU 16. TCU
8. Boise St. 9. Wisconson
5. USC 12. Michigan St.
4. Stanford 13. Michigan
6. Oregon 11. Kansas St.
3. Oklahoma St. 14. Clemson
7. Arkansas 10. South Carolina
2. Alabama 15. Baylor
I guess the whole rematch argument does seem somewhat silly, now that I think about it. Post seasons in sports give us rematches all the time...even in Championships.

One more time- what's Bama's case for #2? Fewer good wins than Okie State? That darn nice try loss to LSU? The fact that they've been ordained one of the two best team's in the country since October?

Dude, we understand. You've been saying the same for the last two threads. You don't need to repeat yourself every time projections come up.

One more time- what's Bama's case for #2? ESPN is infatuated with Alabama/Nick Saban. That certainly doesn't hurt Alabama's case. For me, after last night, I don't see how anyone could put Bama in ahead of OSU. I realize OSU lost to Iowa State, but on the other hand, if Alabama wanted to play for a National Championship they should have taken care of business at home against LSU.

I guess the whole rematch argument does seem somewhat silly, now that I think about it. Post seasons in sports give us rematches all the time...even in Championships. But those are postseasons where you have to earn your way into it, not because a bunch of people game a system or use intangible "what if?" scenarios to ordain a number 2 out of a bunch of teams with the same record. Again, if LSU/'Bama happened as the result of a playoff I'd have absolutely no problem with it. I have no love of the SEC teams but my issue is more the hows than the whats. My main issue is the way the BCS has a system that leads to this sort of stupidity instead of something that makes sense. I mean, seriously. On the off-chance LSU actually lost yesterday, they still would've likely gone off to the National Championship game anyway. Maybe as a Number 2, but still there. The BCS is the only system I know of where you can lose a conference championship game and still advance. That's just ass-backwards.

Post seasons in sports give us rematches all the time...even in Championships. I like the idea of a 16 team playoff, but I would have it with the conference champions all getting in, plus 5 wild card teams, with no conference restrictions. So this year you could have LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas all in, with Alabama and Arkansas getting at-large spots. Independents would have to qualify for an at-large spot to make it. This year's would be something like this. Switch the seeding and at-large if you want: #1 LSU 13-0 (8-0), SEC Champions #16 Louisiana Tech 8-4 (6-1), WAC Champions #8 Arkansas 10-2 (6-2), At-large #9 TCU 10-2 (7-0), Mountain West Champions #5 Boise State 11-1 (6-1), At-large #12 Houston 12-1 (8-0), At-large #4 Stanford 11-1 (8-1), At-large #13 West Virginia 9-3 (5-2), Big East Champions #6 Oregon 11-2 (8-1), Pac-12 Champions #11 Southern Miss 11-2 (6-2), C-USA Champions #3 Alabama 11-1 (7-1), At-large #14 Northern Illinois 10-3 (7-1), MAC Champions #7 Wisconsin 11-2 (6-2), Big Ten Champions #10 Clemson 10-3 (6-2), ACC Champions #2 Oklahoma State 11-1 (8-1), Big 12 Champions #15 Arkansas State 10-2 (8-0), Sun Belt Champions
