I remember watching one of these where the girl said no, ran away, and the mascot comforted the guy and got him a beer.
EDIT: It was that Rockets one!
I wonder if any girl that's ran away from the proposal in public has said yes eventually. I can see freaking out from the pressure/being in front of a large crowd.

Because it's totally fair to jump to the conclusion that the guy is an asshole because he wants to marry a woman he loves... I've never been married but don't most people at least discuss/have an idea that marriage is in their future before they actually propose? To me that's almost essential. I would think so. My wife and I discussed it before we got married. She knew when I bought the ring and when I picked it up. I would hope others would have atleast had a conversation about marriage.

Yeah, talk about it with your significant other before proposing. Some people just don't believe in marriage, either. Or want to wait.

Eh, he took a gamble and lost on that day. I'm sure that wasn't the end of their story, as I'm guessing they at least had a long conversation after the game about whether or not marriage was for them. Or that's what I'd try to initiate if I were either one of them.

And the same thing happend at a Rockets Game 3-4 years ago, but since its Houston no one cares... Or a Wizzards game.. Honestly, this is nothing new.... the Wizards one was fake. Being in VA I remember a report that the Wiz did it cause it seemed like a funny idea

I know a girl that would accept and love it if it happened at a NY Giants game.

Proposals like this put way too much pressure on the women to accept them. I mean, if you want to propose like that and both of them pretty much know it's coming at some point beforehand then I could understand.
But I dunno...I don't think there's much communication going on for the majority of these. I just think it's the guys thinking it's a cool thing to try and it'll be such a surprise...and "she'll love it!"
I blame Hollywood movies.
