So! Pronger's out for the rest of the season. Yay.
While I'm a Flyers fan, Pronger's always rubbed me the wrong way. And the team seems to be doing fine without him (7 wins in a row now) so while it's a loss, I don't feel like it's a huge one.
..Giroux better be coming back though.

The Kings finally scored a goal. Two in fact. And we won. This is a December 15th miracle.

Doc Emrick spoke at a Devils' Fan Club meeting tonight, and had a couple interesting things to say.
For one, he mentioned that Scott Niedermayer's number retirement ceremony is early tomorrow, and the game starting late, because of new protocols the NHL put in place about it after "a certain never-ending tearful ceremony"...love it when Doc pokes fun at the Rangers.
More seriously, though, he was asked about concussions in the game, and said exactly the right answer: the league shouldn't be too stunned when they changed the rules to open up the game, and they wind up with their best scorers getting leveled and injured. You take away the two line pass, you stop letting defenders "clutch and grab", and the game just goes faster and faster, while the players are getting bigger and bigger. It's common sense.

Isn't Pronger supposed to be one of the rocks of the team though? That's what I seem to hear up here all the time. That with him gone, it's not the same for the team (although it doesn't look it right now). Don't know if they mentioned this at your end but here on TSN they did the announcement on Pronger but said the team would not be told until after the game because they'd be upset.

I still think a big part of it is also the way we look and actually handle concussions now a days. A lot of the old flu like symptoms or upper body injuries are now just being called concussions. We are actually treating them like a serious thing instead of a go take an aspirin if you can actually play. I don't know if its really a lot more concussions or we are just that much more hyper aware about it

Yeah, pretty much figured that out when Meszaros reacted like he wasn't told that on the post-game interview. Which I think is the right move (ideally they'd announce it tomorrow, instead of "hey good win, by the way a cornerstone player's gone for the season now." Telling them during the game would've been even worse and probably would've cost them this game because it was close enough as it was. And yeah, I realize his importance to the team - my issue with him is basically just a feeling I get from him. I definitely appreciate what Captain Elbows brings to the team, just his personality sometimes doesn't sit right with me.

So I just saw last night's 24/7 and Bryzgalov's a legend now, just because of his deep insights on the universe.

I'm new to this thread as I didn't realize it existed. Hope to post more in here now that I know of it. My favorite teams are: Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Watched the Montreal vs. Philly game on tv last night. Very cool to see Louis Leblanc get his first NHL goal ever.

I'm just glad concussions are being treated with this amount of seriousness now, and not just in hockey either. People always wrote it off in the past as a little headache and jarring and you're good to go in a bit, when it's actually a form of brain trauma and not treating it as such can result in permanent brain damage.

Correct. hopfully they beat buffalo tonight Yeah I hope they can get a win over Buffalo as well. And I'm really hoping to catch the game on tv tonight, but since I live in Ottawa, we'll probably get the Sens vs. Pens game..... I can't believe that almost 30 games into the season and this is the first time they're playing Buffalo. Reimer is 0-2-1 since coming back, he's due for a win tonight.
