Sorry the correct answer was Minnesota He said Dallas, not the Stars. The Stars part was implied since we are in a hockey thread

Funny thing about the Flyers throwing their little on-ice hissy fit; I seem to recall them being some of the loudest complainers about the stick handling abilities of goalies like Brodeur and DiPietro, which lead to the horridly misguided instituting of the trapezoid.
If they somehow get 1-3-1 defense banned by pulling a stunt like that, then this league doesn't deserve attention.

Last night's Flyers/Lightning game reminded me of the Simpsons soccer episode:
Holds it. Holds it. Holds it.

I don't know what side to take in the Tampa-Philly game. I can see it from both sides. Has Pronger said anything about this? Would love to hear his comments.
Great to see the Rangers keep winning! Hope they can keep it up

Jacques Lemaire is a golden god. The Flyers were within their rights not to move the puck...but they're a bunch of whiners and losers in the grand scheme of things. They're basically complaining "WAH, Tampa wants to play a style that might throw us off our game and, GASP(!), possibly beat us! Gary, change the rules!" Man the hell up. It's not like Tampa is a strong defensive team, they can, and often are, scored against. It's also not like the 1-3-1 system is unbeatable, considering that, you know, Tampa didn't win the Cup this year, and every team in the league isn't copying the style. If it was unbeatable, EVERYBODY WOULD USE IT. Again, ridiculous whining like this gave us such "advances" as the trapezoid...suck it up, NHL commentariat, learn to deal.

Yes I know it was just against the Blue Jackets, but...
Chicago defenseman Steve Montador pulled off a Gordie Howe Hat Trick on Thursday night!
I can't remember the last time a Hawk pulled that off. Research: Brent Seabrook against the Devils in March of 09.
He got the 5 minute fighting major in the 1st period (with Derek Dorsett), the assist on Andrew Brunette's PP goal early in the 2nd, and completed the feat with his own PP goal midway through the 2nd, assisted oddly enough by fellow d-men Duncan Keith and Nick Leddy. Yep - Chicago's godawful man advantage has been so terrible that Coach Q decided to use 3 d-men on one of his units.
And if you want to understand just how terrible the 2-12-1 Blue Jackets are, John Scott got over 11 minutes of ice time tonight for the Hawks, this time pretending that he's a defenseman. At some point, someone on another team will feel bad for him and actually fight him. Someday...

By the by, the continuing "controversy" surrounding Flyers/Bolts is reaching disgraceful levels. NHL Center Ice was COMPLETELY unlistenable today because of how ridiculous the hosts were being about it.
Seriously, Boomer Gordon was arguing that even if the Lightning keep winning and doing well, they'll lose most of their fanbase if they play the trap too often. He was dead serious: the Lightning could win the Cup for the next five years, but their fans will leave in droves if they have to "suffer" through trap hockey. Oh, and it's the sole, single, solitary reason why the Devils don't sell out every game, because they played a trap system from about 1993 through 1998 or so. Not because they play in a very crowded market where hockey exists as a niche sport.
These morons, quite literally, would rather see their teams go 10-70-2, than watch them win a Cup by using the trap a few times a game...like, just 5-6 times a game.
I wonder why these guys weren't so loud back when the Canadiens were winning all those titles using the trap to full effect?

Mark Madden cracks me up.. he tweeted this earlier today in regards to Tyler Kennedy's potential return to the line up tonight :
Headline in Dallas paper: "Kennedy recovers from shot to head, may return." As we know, TK is game-time decision.

Rangers about to make it a 6-game winning streak. A loss by Pitt in regulation will give them a share of first.
3-1 Pens though. Guess that loss isn't gonna happen.

Chicago makes it two in a row with a 4-1 victory over the Flames. They did it without Dave Bolland, who is nursing a foot/ankle injury, and with Ray Emery in net. Don't look now, but Chicago's d-men are starting to find the net. If Keith and Seabrook can match Leddy's production, look out, Western Conference. Edmonton, you're next (and I'll be there to see it).

Normally I groan when the Rags win, but I hate the Hurricanes even more. So I guess it's a push.
