Match Result: British Bulldog & Dean Malenko def. Perry Saturn & Eddie Guerrero via pinfall at 8:09 Malenko pinned Saturn after a Tiger Driver
Another back and forth affair, Saturn and Guerrero got off to a good start, but couldn't hold it. Bulldog got his special and gave Guerrero a spinning powerslam, but got a rope break. The battle between Malenko and Saturn was more evenly match, going back and forth, while Eddie and Bulldog fought on the outside. Bulldog tore into Guerrero, giving him two spinning powerslams and a splash from the top. In the ring, Malenko was doing well, but a few rack pancakes from Saturn weakened him. A Death Valley Driver from Saturn drove Malenko into danger, followed by a couple suicide dives to the outside of the ring. After this, things began to fall apart, as Malenko used him submission skills to fight Saturn, almost finishing the match with a rolling crutch pin. Bulldog and Malenko softened Eddie with a double powerbomb, which made him weak enough for Bulldog to fight him off, allowing the match to end.

Match Result: Val Venis & Cactus Jack def. Buh Buh Ray Dudley & Chris Jericho via pinfall at 13:23 Cactus pinned Buh Buh after a Double Arm DDT
Despite the length of the match, there wasn't really much to talk about. It was again very back and forth between the teams. There were a number of finishers, as well as a double piledriver and double powerbomb by Val and Cactus at different points. The ropes prevented a lot of pins, keeping the match long. There was also a lot of fighting outside the ring. Venis almost pinned Buh Buh with the Money Shot, but it was broken up by Jericho. Cactus tried the Mandible Claw on Jericho, but the ropes broke that up. It was a very tense match.

This should be a good one. Maybe D'lo will get a chance to go up against his partner from the first tournament.

Match Result: Shawn Michaels & Viscera def. D'lo Brown & Edge via pinfall at 4:11 Viscera pinned Edge after a Stalling German Suplex
This match started off with a bang, as Edge slammed Viscera early on. Viscera was at an early disadvantage, but that was balanced out by HBK getting an early advantage. There was a bit of outside the ring fighting, but much less than the previous matches. A lot of isolation periods were in the match as well. Viscera tried to pin D'lo with a Sit-out Powerbomb, but it didn't work. HBK hit a big splash onto Edge from the top rope. Viscera and HBK sealed the deal with a double suplex and piledriver to D'lo and Edge, weakening them enough to make the finish possible.

This match contains two tough Texans and two speedy light heavyweights. Let's see which team comes out on top.

Match Result: Scotty 2 Hotty & Bradshaw def. X-Pac & Stone Cold Steve Austin via pinfall at 5:02 Scotty pinned Austin after a Powerbomb W/Pin
This one started fast, with Scotty outmatching X-Pac and giving him a DDT. Austin and Bradshaw fought on the outside, while X-Pac used his fast kicks to throw Scotty off the trail. Both teams kept leveling each other with a number of strong blows, including Bradshaw's Hammer punch. Bradshaw used his tough Texan brawling style to outmatch Austin, even dropping an elbow from the top. It looked to be over when Bradshaw nailed Austin with a powerful standing Lariat, but X-Pac broke that up. X-Pac and Austin showed signs of a comeback, but Scotty finished off the already weakened Austin. Bradshaw almost plastered X-Pac with the Clothesline from Hell while the pin was being delivered, but X-Pac held onto the ropes at the last second.

TBH, I thought I'd be lucky to get out of round 1. I'm surprised all my matches have been relative squashes. (2 minutes, 5 minutes)

Match Result: Kane & Taka Michinoku def. British Bulldog & Dean Malenko via pinfall at 9:50 Kane pinned Malenko after a Tombstone Piledriver
Bulldog and Malenko had the advantage for most of the match, but lost it in the crucial moments. The match started with Kane and Bulldog getting into tests of strength while Malenko and Taka used quickness and submission skills against one another. Bulldog and Malenko gave Taka a double powerbomb, but that was all. At one point, Taka faked a move to the outside from the ring. There was a lot of taunting as well, to build up special. Taka also tried a Missile Dropkick from the top onto Malenko, but it failed. Bulldog used a Spinning Powerslam on Kane, but Taka broke the pin up. Taka also gave Malenko a Tiger Suplex, but he got a rope break. Kane also busted Malenko open with a big foot to the face when Malenko tried a submission, which basically sealed the deal, allowing Kane to put the match away for him team.

Match Result: Val Venis & Cactus Jack def. Shawn Michaels & Viscera via pinfall at 4:15 Val pinned Michaels after a Money Shot
This one ended rather abruptly. Both teams began the match by bumping into each other. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Venis and Cactus started slamming Viscera around. Viscera did use a couple side slams on his opponents to keep it even, while HBK used his quickness and fast attack for balance. Not a lot of big spots in this match. Venis used the Money Shot twice on Michaels to pin him. Bizarrely, despite being right there, Viscera didn't break up the pin.

Las Vegas is a hell of a place, I'll tell you that much.
Now it's time for the next match, to decide the finals.

Match Result: Kane & Taka Michinoku def. Scotty 2 Hotty & Bradshaw via pinfall at 3:28 Kane pinned Scotty after a Tombstone Piledriver
Kane and Scotty began this one with a taunt battle, while Taka delivered a piledriver to Bradshaw. Things were even, as the light heavyweights squared off against each other, while the powerhouses went head to head. This didn't last long, though, as Kane got his hands on Scotty before long. He used his overwhelming power to dominate, while Taka kept Bradshaw busy with some kicks and submissions. Once Kane used the Tombstone, Scotty went into danger mode, leaving the pin academic.

Match Result: Val Venis & Cactus Jack def. Kane & Taka Michinoku via pinfall at 6:08 Cactus pinned Taka after a Reverse DDT
Well, it was nice to see Val's partner make the pin for a change. This one started out even, as Taka threw Cactus outside the ring, but missed a moonsault to the outside. Kane, meanwhile, was truly brutalizing Venis, throwing him every which way. An early Reverse Suplex only got a two count. Cactus then took Kane to the outside and brawled hardcore style with him, including locking in the Mandible Claw. Venis had much more luck against Taka, but couldn't put him away. Venis also tried to pin both Kane and Taka with German Suplexes, but got a rope break each time. From there, it was even, with isolation aplenty. Cactus had a significant advantage over Taka, which made pummeling him easier. Kane was just a split second two late to break up the pin.
Well, that's another tournament down, and Cageking gets the distinction of winning by picking the right team. Next month I'll start another one, but first, I've got something a little different I want to try out.....
