Plus the max-damage Geno Whirl. Who'd think to even try X at that particular moment? Actually, that's one's not that bad, as it is a simple timed hit on a spell. Most spells have them unless they have a different mechanic to them, like rotating the control pad or charging the attack. Now, the fact that you can use it on Exor is an obscure bug. True. Though think the thing has a regular timed hit as well with Y. The Exor thing though, yeah, you probably wouldn't guess on. Also, that damn invisible chest in Peach's castle.

I seriously want to know whose idea it was to make a chest that you can only access once at the beginning of the game, and in such an off the wall manner.
Thankfully, it just a Frog Coin and you don't get anything for getting all the hidden chests, but seriously!

Yeah, such an odd choice. Speaking of the Lazy Shells, going back to that, it's funny just how much of a joke the armor renders the rest of the game if you give it to Peach.
Slightly related since it makes even him easy, how were kids supposed to gather about the hoops you need to jump through to fight Culex?

At least the monsters in Monstro Town basically tell you that you need some sort of shiny object to break the spell. The fact that it starts with buying 500 coin Fireworks is really out there though, and then you have to trade them for some god damn cookies. What the hell is up with the Mushroom Kingdom's economy there?
Speaking of the fireworks, I wonder how many people actually bothered to buy the amount needed to get a Star for the ending fireworks?

Evidently the Mushroom Kingdom economy's pretty poor judging by Superstar Saga. An exchange rate of ten to one for Beanbean coins is weird enough, but how the hell in the span of a day does it fall to one Beanbean coin equaling millions of Mushroom Kingdom ones?

Clearly, the Mushroom Kingdom is Zimbabwe, which must be a major problem when you consider that you can't carry more than 1000 coins.

You know what else is weird about Super Mario RPG? Boomer. Like, everything involving Boomer.

Boomer just comes out and of nowhere and leaves just as fast. He serves no other purpose other than to put you in a battle before Exor.

I've always thought SMRPG was a little overrated. Not horrible by any means, but if there was ever a "right place, right time" scenario, it was that. I'd play either of the pure Paper Mario RPGs than SMRPG, especially Thousand-Year Door, my favorite RPG of all time outside of Pokemon and the tactical RPGs for the GBA/DS (Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Advance Wars).

I haven't played the Mario and Luigi games, so I can't speak on them. That said, the way I see it, SMRPG has two distinct advantages over the Paper Mario series. The first is its awesome soundtrack. The second is that it's not boring as f***.

The only one I've played all the way through is SMRPG so that gets my vote.
Off topic but would anybody else like to see Geno and Mallow in Smash Bros.?

I don't know about the Melee games, but I think it would be cool to at least see Mallow in the Kart games. From a story standpoint, he should still be friends with Mario, and it's not like he has any real need to rule with his parents still reigning. Geno is cool and all, but I was always disappointed in the lack of special moves he had. He also tended to be pretty useless at least until he learned Geno Whirl. Also when I was younger, I actually thought Geno was a girl.
As far as getting to Culex, it's actually pretty darn easy. The game basically tells you that a crystal is some sort of shiny rock or something.
If you want some real obscure stuff...how about winning "Look the Other Way" 100 times. Or using Mystery Egg 10 times with Toadstool (NOT PEACH!) while she wore the BTub ring. Or attempting to get the essentially useless Yoshi Ade.
Also, has anyone ever tried the low level play through? Essentially, you play with all your characters at the absolute lowest level by exploiting the Yoshi roulette through the "lucky" Hammer or the Lucky Jewel, and needing to lose. It's quite the challenge, and I've actually almost beaten the game (including Culex), but Smithy honestly is the toughest boss in the game.

Can't possibly decide between Super Mario RPG and Thousand-Year Door, so I voted both. Basically every other game is a close second, though; all the Mario RPGs are great games.
