Its really Friends for the generation after Friends. I love both, but I identify a lot more with the HIMYM characters.

Everyone is misunderstanding the context. It's not about which show is better. It's an observation that networks have picked it up instead of the usual Seinfeld. Which also has to mean that, today, this generation prefers HIMYM to reruns of Seinfeld, cause if the ratings were bad they never would have replaced seinfeld with it.

They put reruns of Seinfeld on CBS during primetime? I'm so confused by your statement.

Well, I mean, Seinfeld is old so .... that's to be expected. Interestingly enough HIMYM was picked up by both Lifetime and FX for syndication. That's an interesting x-section.

seems like 90 percent of the networks that aired syndicated Seinfeld re runs have replaces those time slots with How I Met Your Mother in syndication instead.

It is weird how Lifetime is one of the networks to air HIMYM reruns when Barney Stinson is three steps away from being a typical Lifetime Movie Villain. In fact, I think they were one of the first stations to take the show once its reruns got eligible for syndication.

Because women like him because they know he's not a threat and rather a parody of those guys.

For me, it's not just the Barney thing, it's also because seeing Lifetime with that kind of show on their channel is just...unusual. Not that I mind, just sayin'. HIMYM is the SOLE reason why I watch Lifetime.

I would say that Always Sunny is more like this generation's Everyone Loves Raymond. Both shows feature some truly horrible people that are still enjoyable as TV characters.

Everybody Loves Raymond only ended six years ago. IMO, there needs to be a larger gap between generations.

To put that all in context: Friends ended in 2004 How I Met Your Mother started in 2006 Always Sunny Started in 2005 Everybody Barely Tolerates Raymond ended in 2005 Last Seinfeld was 98 Just kind of interesting, not very, but kind of.

Until a sitcom gets super bowl ratings upon the airing of it's finally episode, nothing will be like Seinfeld.

In the UK, the initial trailer spots for HIMYM were basically the voiceover guy calling it a Friends clone.
I did always see it as more like Friends than anything else. Seinfeld is infinitely better than both though, if you ask me.
