Sunday night’s Giants-Cowboys game is a “win and in” scenario for the Giants, but one report claims it’s not a “win or else” scenario for Tom Coughlin. CBS Sports’ Charley Casserly reports that Coughlin will be back with the Giants in 2012 to fulfill the last year of his contract, no matter what happens Sunday night. Giants owner John Mara said two years ago that they wouldn’t accept any more late season collapses, but Coughlin is likely being given credit this year for holding together an injury-ravaged team. Casserly also confirmed that that Andy Reid will be back in Philadelphia as head coach. That has been expected all along, but we haven’t heard anyone report is so definitively. Casserly writes that defensive coordinator Juan Castillo’s status remains undecided. I swear, Perry Fewell and especially Kevin Gillbirde better not be back on the sideline with him. I still think Coughlin needs to go since he hasn't really been a good coach this year overall. But his coordinators and assistant coaches have been outright terrible, even in spite of the injuries. Ideally I'd love to see Fewell get canned and get Spags back if he isn't going to the Iggles. As for offensive coordinator, no clue. But Gillbride is so hilariously predictable that anyone competent who actually likes to try different things would be an improvement.

What I'm wondering is how safe Lovie Smith is in Chicago if the Vikings beat them today.

Starting QB and running back get dropped one year after making the NFC finals, that is a really tough situation. They were in line for the playoffs too.
