Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter
WWE currently has pay-per-view main events penciled in through the Royal Rumble, which is the opposite of how they have booked in recent years. Of course, things will likely change numerous times.
There has been talk of doing a Scramble match at the Survivor Series pay-per-view with Sheamus, Mark Henry, Christian, Randy Orton, Big Show and Kane. Henry vs. Show in a Tables Match at the TLC pay-per-view is also being discussed.
It's also said that creative has picked out a tentative winner for the Royal Rumble already, and that Superstar is from the SmackDown! brand. The idea is that the winner will end up with the World Heavyweight Title before WrestleMania 28, likely at Elimination Chamber, because Daniel Bryan will be challenging with his Money in the Bank briefcase.
I guess they're going through with it. Unless I see DBD across the ring from whoever is champ at WM, I don't believe it.

So, guess not wasting the WWE title on Cena / Rock is a total non-possibility then.

They're not bringing the stupid Scramble match back; that abomination required a screenful of text to explain the rules, for heaven's sake.

I don't believe it. I want it to much for me to believe WWE will actually do it.

Hey! They're booking a tables match when it makes sense in the context of a storyline finally!!

The only person besides Henry who I could see fitting for it would be Barrett, and with how they're doing him now I can't see him winning the Rumble, much less winning the title.
Honestly, though, Mania 28 in general is shaping up to by terrible in my view. Yeah, it'll sell on Rock / Cena, but I can't see much besides the unlikely Bryan / Henry that I'd be interested in.

Let me get this straight. The Rumble is for a title shot of the winners choice...AT WRESTLEMANIA...but somehow a SD star is going to win the Rumble and win the title before Mania and face Daniel Bryan? What the shit?
There's only three acceptable (for me that is) results to this in my eyes.
A) Mark Henry stays an unstoppable monster through Mania and taps out to Daniel Bryan.
B) Whoever wins the Rumble weasels his way into the SD match to make it a three way dance or just goes for the WWE Title to piss John Cena off. (If Cena holds the title going into his match with the Rock and the Rumble winner picks him...sucks to be you John. He's getting the biggest match of his life. This also guarantees Cena drops the title cause it ain't happening.)
C) Daniel Bryan also wins the Rumble...fails to win his MitB match, but wins the Rumble match...or...Daniel Bryan decides he's going to be the ultimate badass and uses his Rumble match to challenge for the WWE Title and his MitB to challenge for the World Title...and wins them both.
All of those are a lot better than making the Rumble even more worthless by having the winner NOT get a title shot at Mania. Curtain jerking was bad enough...

I can see DBD turning heel and cashing in at Elimination Chamber, and going into WM as champ. Even that is still wishful thinking.

Option D) Daniel Bryan wins the Royal Rumble, cashes in his MitB at Elimination Chamber to become champion and then uses his Rumble win to challenge himself to an Iron Man match at Mania...with Shawn Michaels as special ref. Epic.

Why don't they just have a contested finish at TLC which leads to the WHC being vacated and put on the line in the Royal Rumble?
A) It re-establishes the importance of the WHC, since presumably nearly everybody in the company would be competing for it.
B) It gets the title onto the Rumble winner, which you're going to do anyway while not devaluing the "Rumble winner gets his shot at Mania" stip.

They need to be careful that they don't book themselves into a corner here...

I can see Johnny Ace just being a dick with the whole thing too if he's GM that long. Hey, so the board wants me to protect our big Mania main event of Rock vs Cena for the WWE Title...so screw you guys thinking you're going to weasel your way into the main event. The Rumble is now officially for the World Heavyweight Title! *someone keys the side of Johnny's car*

I'll start believing it when Bryan isn't made out to be in the same caliber as Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly or Savio Vega.
I like Bryan too but, if won the Title tomorrow, I'd be more "WTF?" than "Yeah!".

Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time they wasted the Rumble stip before Mania. John Cena at No Way Out 2008, anyone?

All of those are a lot better than making the Rumble even more worthless by having the winner NOT get a title shot at Mania. Curtain jerking was bad enough... Except they already did this. Cena "cashed in" his Rumble win at No Way Out in '08, as I recall. And this happened before said curtain jerking.

SO the way that reads is that Daniel Bryan is winning the Royal Rumble to get his shot at the WHC at Wrestlemania. He's also going to cash in his MitB shot at Elimination Chamber AND HE'S GOING TO WIN IT!!
This does sound like it could be the makings of quite a good story. Bryan with his guaranteed WM shot with his RR win, he can stalk and harass and have the champ constantly looking after his shoulder because Bryan can cash his MitB at ANY time!!
The couple of months after Rumble could be awesome.
