I'm still trying to figure out how he passed that lie detector test... They are pretty easy to pass actually. Just stay calm and don't stress about the answers.

Don't care what anyone says, I freaking loved Mr. America, just for the sheer goofiness and audacity of it all. I agree. They actually made a Hogan angle fresh. It was hilarious. I loved that angle front to back.

as it over $$$ again?? Just curious I think it was. Hogan felt he was underpaid. The E' didn't want to give him raise.

Dave Lagana explained on the Art of Wrestling that he'd quit and they were stuck for how to write him out, when someone pointed out the post-show unmasking.

Dave Lagana explained on the Art of Wrestling that he'd quit and they were stuck for how to write him out, when someone pointed out the post-show unmasking. That makes sense. At that point, Triple H was the focus of raw, and Lesnar and Angle were the faces of Smackdown. In hindsight though, I think the end of Hogan's run in 2003 was the reason why he refused to play ball with putting people over afterwards.

Yeah, I always felt that the post-show footage wasn't originally intended to be used as his "firing"...
What kept Hogan away for 2 years? (until 2005)

Another thing...was it a similar deal when Hogan left in July 2002, after Lesnar squashed him?
Sidelined with jobitis there too?

Why are you guys talking about Hogan? This is a Mr. America thread. Who was that masked man anyway? Isn't it obvious? The man behind the mask of Mr. America was the second Ultimate Warrior!

That is one of the most egomaniacal things I've ever read, but considering who said it it's nothing new. Does this at least have some slight basis in fact? I haven't seen SummerSlam 2006 so I don't know what the crowd was like. (To keep on-topic I too loved the Mr. America angle. It was so goofy and over-the-top it couldn't possibly fail.)

I'm still trying to figure out how he passed that lie detector test... That's very simple. he was telling the truth. Unless someone secretly changed 2 wires to makke lies sound like truth.

So, in kayfabe, I remember Vince using the post-SD! footage of Hogan revealing his face to the crowd as evidence to finally fire him, but in reality, why did Hogan abruptly leave during this time in the middle of an angle? Was it over $$$ again?? Just curious I remember Powerslam magazine reporting he was released because he felt after the Vince feud he should be inserted back into the main event/championship picture whereas Vince was adamant his days headline were over and he be used as a special attraction. Whether this was true or not, you gotta admit that the last two years he's pretty much proven Vince right. :/

The opening match was Rey vs. Chavo at the tail end (I think) of Eddiespoitation, and the crowd hated it. Show vs. Sabu got a few good pops but nobody can deny them being more into Hogan's match. Hogan definitely over-exaggerates about the rest of the event. DX vs. the McMahons and Edge vs. Cena had good heat.
