I'd be fine with Punk holding the belt 'til he retires, but I'm a Punk fan

His year long celebration drew a 2.87 to close the show or worse than Ryback vs. Tensai part 4 or 5 which drew a 2.91! Doesn't help that it was a piss-poor "celebration" - really Paul E., the best you could do was cover the ring and blow up 3 pictures? Where was the cake? The special guests? The confetti? AND WHERE WERE THE BALLOONS?!

I am looking forward to see who will be the Cena to his JBL, the Batista to his Triple H or the Sting to his Flair. Maybe it'll be Ryback or maybe it's new face Miz or maybe its someone we wouldn't think of. This is why it absolutely cannot be the Rock. It would be a giant waste of Punk's reign I think whoever beats Rock for the title (if he is to win it) would get more of a rub than beating Rock than they ever would through beating Punk. Even with a year long title reign factored into this. If you want to launch a guy by giving him the title and you've the choice of having him launch through pinning Punk or pinning the Rock - it's an absolute no brainer.

Fact is, TenBack didn't draw a 2.91, the show opened to 2.91. Big difference. Also, again, that 2.87 close was with the four hundred thousand Punk brought back, the highest gain of the show and one of only four at that.

Yeah, if you're going to play this game with the ratings, I could say that the first segment sent things so far downhill that the show never recovered.

If Rock wins at the Royal Rumble, the only person taking the title away from him is John Cena.

Well, I never said that TenBack was responsible for the 300,000+ dive after the open. I just said they weren't responsible for the 2.9 open. Anyway, we all know Del Rio was responsible for the drop.

They had a Ryback promo and Ryback/Tensai match, there is no why that holds a 2.91 if people weren't there to watch Ryback on top of that he wrestled a guy in his first match last week and drew big ratings so its starting to trend like Punk doing bad in the final segment. It to the point now that Punk is only the Champ because of the Rock match being set in stone. Also with Punk doing bad in all these the final segment a good portion of those people are watching the overrun because they watch the next show and don't know when Raw is ending, we just don't know what the base is there for those without the min by min numbers but its why the show always ends up.

segment by segment ratings analysis sure is fun and enlightnening. I mean, so much can be learned from it, I'm surprised that more crucial decisions aren't made with these enormously important interpretations in mind

never thought I'd see a reign of this length especially these days, this is truly an epic title run

Yeah man. It's mind blowing that Punk would be at 400+ days now if they didn't have Del Rio/Nash idiocy ending the mans first run.

Just imagine if CM Punk holds it till Wrestlemania....he would be at 504 days. That is a crazy number in our modern era

It's mind blowing that Punk would be at 400+ days now if they didn't have Del Rio/Nash idiocy ending the mans first run. If only Del Rio didn't cash in. I would have even preferred HHH pedigreeing Punk after the matches was finished once he won, setting up a simple championship feud between the two for a month. Then successfully defending it at HITC and Vengeance against Del Rio (first unsuccessful cash in) and Cena. Then having a fatal 4 way defense at SS Punk vs Cena vs Del Rio vs HHH.

I think that was good for him though. Cena's WWE reign was painful because everyone was already sick of it. Punk in classic Punk fashion always wants to stay fresh. As a result, I could see him head into Mania no problem. The nearly 400 days have flown by.

I truly do think that Rock wrestling at the Rumble kinda dragged out Punk's reign even longer tbh. WWE/Rock wants that match up at that event, so Punk keeps it at all costs, otherwise he most likely would have dropped it by now. I think in a way, Rock helped Punk's reign in that sense.
