Rewatching the episode already. Fantastic opening. {Spoiler}Bearded fugitive Walt was awesome. I don't think he'd be on the run from Jesse, since I think if it came down to it he would kill Jesse with little remorse. You have to remember how far gone Walt is at this point. I think he still cares about his family and on some level in his mind is still doing all of this for them, so he would have a harder time just killing Hank. Also, if Hank was that close to finding out about Walt that Walt would have to kill him, the rest of the DEA would not be far behind, so killing him would be pointless. In the preview for next week, Hank's boss is talking to him about how he once had dinner with Gus and had no idea who he really was, and when he was talking about something being there under his nose the whole time Hank had this look of deep thought on his face. Hank is going to figure it out soon if he doesn't already know.

{Spoiler}Bearded Walt at 52 spoils a couple of things. First, we know Walt lives through this season. Second, if he had a Vermont driver's license, that means he was in a witness protection program of some kind, be it through the DEA, or with that guy that Saul knew that was going to do it last season. I'm betting on the guy Saul knew, because Walt would be the guy that the DEA was looking for. The question now is, who is Walt going after? I'm thinking it's someone we meet this season, and the guy kills Jesse, or Hank, or Walt's family, or some combination of those.

Another possibility: {Spoiler}I read a theory once that Walt somehow manages to pin the whole thing on Jesse and cuts a deal with the DEA. The flash forward could be after this happens and Walt is hiding from Jesse/Mike.

{Spoiler}I believe, with the laptop/cameras and the preview for next weeks episode, Hank is gonna find out about Walt by the end of the 1st half. He's already having suspicions about Walt (Car crash by the laundromat, Walt's stalling about putting the tracker on Gus' car, etc), so it wouldn't be feasible to think that Hank is having some kind of idea. Besides, Hank discovering Walt at the meth lab would a hell of a way to take a year long break

Do we need to keep spoiler formatting? Someone please clarify. Eh, whatever: {Spoiler}Great first episode, although I'm desperately going to miss Fring. Still my favorite show on television.
Also, when does everyone think Ted is going to be offed? Next episode? Third episode? Will it happen at all? Who will do it?

Also, when does everyone think Ted is going to be offed? Next episode? Third episode? Will it happen at all? Who will do it? {Spoiler}I don't think Ted will get offed. I think Ted still has a scumbag move in his arsenal but I don't think Walter or Skyler assume him to be a problem until he becomes one. I'm not sure how important paying Jesse for his share in purchasing the giant magnet is, but I could see Walt doing something irrational to get his money back from Ted, leading Ted to get Walt some unwanted lawful attention in retribution.
There's no way I can piece together what leads to Walt's position on his 52nd birthday. I don't think he's suiting up for some kind of revenge mission because assuming his family is either dead or disowned him, or someone kills Jesse, I just don't think Walt's at a point anymore where he's thinking of anyone but himself. I think the weaponry is preparing for someone that's coming after him. Like Walt kills Jesse and Mike wants Walt. Because if Walt's changing his name I think Mike's the only one slick enough to see through it, and I'm not expecting Hank to live through the end of this either.
My expectations this season might be going overboard but I feel like a several important characters are going to die before the series is concluded.

Also, I'm trying to be an extra for the next half of the season. Probably won't work out, but if it did, it'd be a memorable experience. (I used to know someone who played one of Walt's students in the first season and got $60ish for her time.) Since AMC is going to be splitting it up, they're going to film more episodes in the fall, and I missed out on any casting for the first half. Hell, I'd even be happy to be in a car in the background or something.

doesn't it seem kind of... un-Gus like to record and store video footage of the creation of narcotics and god knows what else on such an easily attainable laptop?
It's the one thing that didn't sit well with me about the new episode. I mean, Gus was so careful and so smart but he's totally willing to have gigabytes of video of people making tons and tons of meth on his computer at his restaurant, where everyone knows he works?

True, but he'd also been doing it for over 20 years and nobody caught a whiff of anything by that time. It'd make you a little more comfortable taking a risk like that.

Good episode tonight. Can't wait to see how things develop. Who is Lydia and how is she going to be involved?

I have a feeling Mike is going to regret not killing Lydia. Not to mention going into partners with Walt.
And I loved the Mike/Hank scene. One of the best of the entire series.
