Come on!
-He tries to reason with Punk, talk to him and appease him -Went to management classes to figure out how to make their relationship smoother -is friendly to everyone -wanted them to have a civil contract signing on the show before TLC, but Punk screwed it up. -came to Punk's aid on Monday. Oh, sure, it ended bad, but that was Punk's fault for being distracted.
And how does Punk reward his gestures? Constantly making fun on him and his much-respected wrestling career. AND taking shots at the mullet (evil).
Are we sure Ace isn't the good guy here?

I definitely find Laurinaitis coming off a lot less petty if nothing else. Sure, he's screwing Punk over here and there, but not actively and Punk's the one picking fights with him for no apparent reason.

In an alternate universe maybe.
It's pretty obvious he's the heel who is trying to convince everyone he's doing the right thing when in fact he's a sheep in wolf's clothing and everyone sees through it.

True, pretty much every "altercation" between Punk and Johnny L. has happened because Punk was the one who started mouthy off. Hell, the most villainous thing he's done so far was refuse to give Zack Ryder a rematch with Ziggler after Ziggler won their match.

Nobody introducing himself as "Mister John Laurenaitis Head of the Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of RAW" CAN be a face.
(Compare that with actual face Teddy Long's "Holla Holla Holla")

Hell, the most villainous thing he's done so far was refuse to give Zack Ryder a rematch with Ziggler after Ziggler won their match. Hell, after Ziggler had already successfully defended it against him twice, one of which was after having and losing another match. Something that kind of bugs me with the Ryder story, he really didn't deserve the third shot yet you were supposed to think he did.

He's far more of a face than HHH was as CEO.

Not even close. Johnny Ace is a total troll. He is HILARIOUS, but he is clearly trolling the faces.

I still think that was one of the funniest things WWE has ever done, the way he stumbled through that promo while looking at his feet, then just looked right at the hard camera and said that flawlessly was just amazing.

I hate to bring up the comparison, but Austin v McMahon started with Vince trying to be reasonable and Austin doing everything to provoke him.

He is a wolf in sheep's clothing, but eventually he's gonna have to bare his fangs. If I just started watching three or four weeks ago, I'd probably feel sorry for Laurinaitis.
At some point he'll have to become more overtly heelish, if only so audiences can get behind Punk easier.
