So this may just be a huge fear because I have been a fan of Ryder since he was a major Brother, but if the ratings stay low and they really are losing faith in him could he just be the next Scotty to hotty?
Now I know Scotty never in a million years at his most over would have had the garden chanting his name during a Rock promo, but it the E decides to pull the cord on Ryder his overness could just become similar to when people, regardless of enjoying a scotty match would always pop for W O R M and spell it out.
Just a thought/fear

I don't see Ryder doing much beyond this unless he actually develops more personality and range. I don't see the WWE wanting him to change much right now because of merchandise sales so he will be similar to Scotty

I got called out for refering to his reactions as "Scotty 2 Hotty" heat in the RAW thread. But that's about it. He isn't a great wrestler/ His interviews and micspots are useless. He's over because it was cool to like him and he does his "WOO WOO WOO kick" thing. That's about it. Short term run with him because he's really nothing interesting.

Scotty's probably a really good comparison. Except there was so much talent at that time that Scotty never got a look as a viable singles guy. Road Dogg is another good comparison.

Yeah, I think that's about the right level for him. Much like Scotty, he's a novelty guy.

It is sad because I really think Road Dogg could have been pushed a little bit harder ala Mick Foley had he not had drug issues Surprised no one has came in and argued against this and for Ryder I guess the shine of him is/has wore off

I agree, but I'm hoping that his thing now will get him some exposure and longtime fans while he builds credibility and evolves his character in the future, similar to John Cena.

This is the same comparison that I made in the thread about not liking Ryder. He reminds me of Scotty too Hotty. Except I couldn't remember his name, so i said "the guy who did the worm."

I mean, if he's going to hit the main event he could always evolve a bit in the ring.... but are you serious bros?
Ryder's insanely over with live crowds, and it's not just for fist pumping or "because it's cool". He's popular. People get into his matches.
Also I like how him getting a chant during a Rock promo is just dismissed. What does he need to do to be considered over? Have Stone Cold wear a broski headband and post it on twitter? Oh wait - that already happened. Maybe have aliens from outer space land and start fist pumping as first contact?

Wow. I was trying to defend the accusations that the internet is turning on Ryder at first, but it's looking more and more like I was wrong each day.

I get the Zack Ryder/Scotty 2 Hotty comparison. I just don't think Zack Ryder's current character has the depth to be a main eventer.
With that said, I have to ask what the problem is with that? Does every single wrestler have to win a world title to "matter" in the grand scheme of things? What is wrong with just being a popular midcard act who sells a boatload of merchandise? Roddy Piper, Ted Dibiase, Razor Ramon, Jake Roberts, Mr. Perfect, and Owen Hart are just a few of the guys who didn't need to reach the main event to matter.

I wouldn't mind, because I thought Scotty was awesome.

These days the standards have sadly risen to "if you're not a main eventer/billion time WWE/World Champion then you don't matter". Mr. Perfect would be completely no sold in todays WWE. Although WWE does deserve some blame for this due to making the midcard titles extremely unimportant seeming until lately.

The irony is that Scotty 2 Hotty was the first person to get the crowd to chant 'WOO WOO WOO' in unison when he did his ridiculous karate chops after the W-O-R-M. And the first person to spike his hair.... OMG
Ryder has committed gimmick infringement! Somebody call The Rock!!

Maybe they'll take one of his woo's away. "WOO! WOO! *looks at feet sadly*"
