You know, guys who went out clean to further a career.
Undertaker and Lesnar.
Backlund and Diesel.
Jbl and Cena
Etc.
As little as guys like Taker and HHH job, I think they've done well in that the guys they lost to were big deals.
Who else is great at putting guys over?

True. Foley put over edge, and HHH. I think orton, too.
As it should be, as well. Jake, Snuka, and others put over Taker, and He made Mick.

Ric Flair made Sting.
Mick Foley made Triple H.
Triple H made Batista.

Rock ---> Lesnar
HHH --->Batista
Foley --->Orton
Also I don't think JBL "made" Cena.
Cena beating JBL wasn't a star making victory for Cena because he was very over in 2003,already beat guys bigger than JBL ever was and in 2005 Cena was bigger than JBL ever was.

I'd argue that Andre made Hogan. I know Hulk had already been champion for around 4 years before he beat Andre, but that is THE MOMENT that everyone remembers.

I'd argue that the match he had with Mr. Perfect at Summerslam '91 did quite a lot to establish Bret Hart as a singles main-eventer.

The Rock <--> Triple H Triple H --> Batista and Jeff Hardy* Foley --> Randy Orton Undertaker --> Brock Lesnar Jeff Hardy --> CM Punk* Randy Orton --> Mark Henry John Cena --> Edge* Shawn Michaels --> Chris Jericho* Eddie Guerrero --> JBL Kurt Angle <--> Chris Benoit JBL --> John Cena* Bret Hart --> Stone Cold Steve Austin
* They were already Upper-Midcarders, but the feuds made them come across as credible Main Eventers
<--> = The feud elevated both participants.

A case could be made that Triple-H made John Cena. Though he was already a very established main eventer at that point, going over Hunter was a massive cementing of his standing in the company.
Also John Cena kind of did it for CM Punk this year. Him losing twice (relatively) cleanly is one of the reasons CM Punk is in the very enviable position he is now in. That whole angle could have been for nothing had Cena not bought his "A" Game, so to speak, and put Punk over.

But then they spent the next year jobbing him out to every main-eventer (Taker, Mysterio, Big Show, and Orton in that order.)

I would say that Taker or Lesnar made Cena.
Lesnar was his first title match and even though he didn't win he still came out looking like a million bucks.
Taker was another of his early feuds where he didn't win but still came out looking a hell of a lot stronger than he did going in.

The feud with Jeff did a lot for him, it made him a semi-regular main eventer(who deserved to be a regular). But the Cena feud and matches put him into the 'can't be ignored any more' category.

From a midcard perspective, Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder.
There were people in the crowd jumping up and down with joy when Zack got the Three at TLC. When was the last time winning the US title meant that much to the crowd?
I hope they don't move Dolph up just yet. A couple of months feuding over the US Championship could be the best thing to happen to it in years.

Kurt Angle and Edge, although Edge didn't win a World Title until cashing in MiTB, I think Edge became main event material with his feud with Angle.

Bret Hart and Steve Austin. Not just for WM13, but most of 1997 and the latter part of 96.
