I can't think of any full time wrestler in the WWE that gets good, consistent heat besides The Miz, and that sucks. A few years ago felt like a golden age of heels in the WWE with JBL, SRS Jericho, Straight Edge Punk, Douchetista, Edge, and Orton all at around the same time or within the same few years. Now, the most over heels are Vickie and Michael Cole, who don't even wrestle. This blows. I hope the It Begins stuff really is Jericho so he can start it over.

Showoff Ziggler gets constant heat when he starts to...be a showoff during matches.

Also, and this is kind of on the same topic, but I can't ever remember a more boring main event heel than Alberto Del Rio. Dude is just lame as hell and doesn't evoke a single emotion in me besides apathy.

Well that's what happens when you yo-yo push some heels (Del Rio), constantly feed the others to lower talent (Miz, Ziggler), and when you just overall don't capitalize on possible goldmines (R-Truth). Basically, shitty booking leads to shitty heels.

I don't get the Del Rio hate, he's a really entertaining guy to watch. The facial expressions and the bit where he acts classy to hide his barbaric tendences are both awesome.

The biggest reason why there are no leading heels in the company is because the WWE finds a good heel to push...and then doesn't know what to do with them after a while.

Biggest heels right now are Johnny Ace, Vickie and Cole. Now that is sad.
Oh and Straight Edge Punk was one of the greatest heels....EVER.

My problem with Del Rio is that his act hasn't really changed wheras other heels have stayed fresh. Like Ziggler whose added things like the showing off side of his character to keep things fresh and Cody whose gone from Dashing, to Undashing, to a mix of the three. Wade Barrett from angry leader of a rebel group, selfish leader using another faction for his own benefit to a classy, smug brawler motivated entirely by greed. Del Rio has stayed the same however and his act has started to get a bit dull. He is a great wrestler though, he's decent enough on the mic and is charismatic enough. I think all he needs is a bit of a character tweak to make him interesting again.

Basically, s***ty booking leads to s***ty heels. Basically this. For ages now there's been this revolving door of heels that get a quick main event push then after a couple of months their back in the midcard because the faces win and the heels lose all their momentum due to bad booking. Some recent examples: R-Truth's singles main event push started in April and was essentially over by the end of June. Alberto Del Rio's two title reigns were badly managed and made to look forgetabble despite having AN ENTIRE YEAR OF BUILDUP! Christian also had two world title reigns; which lasted an average of 15 days, and in world title matches against Randy Orton he went 1-5. Even Dolph Ziggler has been badly booked. Yes he was US Champion for 6 months, but during that reign he jobbed out to Ryder, Morrison, Mason Ryan, and on PPV he lost at MITB, didn't appear at SummerSlam, lost to Air-Boom at Vengeance, and he was the first one eliminated at Survivor Series. Then of course you have Wade Barrett who has been yo-yo booked for the past 15 months (beating Cena at HIAC but getting literally buried at TLC, forming The Corre but then getting jobbed out in 2 minutes at Wrestlemania, winning the IC title the losing it to Ezekiel friggin' Jackson). The only main event heel this year thats been booked properly is Mark Henry, and guess what? He's 40 years old and is probably retiring in the next 12-18 months.

They should have went further with the "Deluded People's Champion" thing he had for like 2 weeks after he won the title the first time.

Not to mention, how much you want to bet that their Henry booking's based both on the fact that he isn't gonna be here for long and their own tripe booking's left nearly all of their other heels with a severe lack of cred? I mean, they could have booked him like this years ago, when SmackDown was in need of a serious main event heel way back in 2006! I don't even remember who the main event heel was around that time.

I actually think it was Mark Henry I remember during that time he had the Silverback gimmick and a Path of Destruction type push where he feuded with Batista, Kurt Angle and Undertaker. I'm sure he picked up a bad injury part-way through his push which sidelined for about 8 months and put an end to his main event push.

Del Rio's only been on TV about 18 months I honestly thought it was longer than that. But still, I do think the gimmick needs tweaking a little. He doesn't have to stop been a Billionaire, just needs to add something to it to keep it fresh. Because really, I do want to like Del Rio. He's a very good wrestler, good on the mic, has good mannerisms but the gimmick to me has just gotten a bit stale in the last couple of months.

It's really a shame because I think there's so much potential they're wasting with Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler. Wade Barrett could have been HUGE if they didn't have Cena go all "lol, this stip is a joke, let me HULKARAPADOO UP and ruin a rising star".
And Dolph has what Miz wishes he could have.

He's as one dimensional as they come. Sure decent wrestler, but he wrestles the same match constantly too. He's very boring, how many times can the same couple of faces be entertaining? I don't care if he wore a mask before it's that remarkable to be able to move the muscles of your face.

I think the industry has changed to the point that its impossible to book a heel effectively. If you book the heel well fans would cheer them. Book them poorly and fans don't react at all. Its tough nowadays to get that white hot heel heat... unless you're Scott Stiener charging a bunch of Indians at a TV taping.
