There's a popular urban legend that Vince resented/regretted signing Henry a ten year contract when he first signed with the company, so he tried to give him the worst possible storylines (Mae Young giving birth to a hand) to try to get Henry to break the contract. That's stupid, Vince is too good a businessman to do something that petty. It'd be like making a great wrestler pretend to be ennamored with a mop just cause he ticked you off. Nobody's that petty.. Wasn't that more because Saturn stiffed a young wrestler really badly during a match?

I was so pissed when Big Show won the title... But now that I know it was due to injury and not just bad booking, I'm okay with it. I've done some horrible things in my life, but I don't take credit for it!

I think and kinda hope too that this is the last attempt at pushing Mark Henry. Vince saw and heard the reaction he got in MSG last month. Those fans weren't just amusing themselves chanting everything related to Mark Henry's way too long wrestling career, they were telling him they don't want to see the guy, same as Philly did to an extent last night. When you're not over in the main WWE cities, you're not over it's that simple so that aligned with the unusual injury probably means the Hall of Pain is finished. You are reading too much into that. It wasn't a message to WWE that they think Henry should be gone or anything like that. It was a heel getting jeered by snarky fans.

Not to mention his run as champ was getting Smackdown some of it's best ratings in years.

Henry gets consistent boos so the argument he isn't over is not true. And given how strongly he was booked even in defeat I doubt his push is done unless the injury keeps him sidelined for a long time.

I hope this injury doesn't take him out of the main event picture. He's a great heel and I love his promo. The one he did right after his title win was incredible.
