WWE Games Thread 41: Gameday, Maggle!

Not to be so negative, as I do enjoy a lot of things about this game, but Road to Wrestlemania this year is so lazily pieced together and outright just boring to play with the objectives. It feels like a streamlined version of it, with the only benefit being the quick load times. There's no hype videos or anything, it's just predetermined cutscene after cutscene. And their obsession with beating up people in the same backstage area "to the right of the vending machine" is tedious as all hell. I just finished the UK one, so maybe the others get better, but so far I'm under the impression that I need to just start playing Universe and use the Unlock All DLC feature. I dig what they were going for with the UK stable...it's just uninteresting & underdeveloped.

In that context, it's basically a mirror image of how WWE does stables nowadays. So, well done!

Wade Barrett is feuding with my CAW in Universe.

Before one match, Wade wanted to shake his hand, and then kicked him in the stomach.

Then, after their next match, Wade looked like he was hurt in the corner. My CAW goes over to check on him, and Wade gives him a low blow. Then, Wade stands up, starts doing jumping-jacks, then runs away up the ramp.

I love Universe so much more this year. Awesome stuff.

Edit: The thing I hate most about RTWM is that on most matches, you can't control the outcome. A cutscene is used for virtually every match. So frustrating.

i love when universe mode seems to know natural rivals....CM Punk was in a match against Del Rio...and Raven comes out and hits the evenflow on punk and leaves....they arent rivals in the game either because i havent bothered to do that stuff yet.

This comes out tomorrow in the UK, and this is the first time I've actually been excited for a WWE game since Wrestlemania X8 for the Gamecube (shut up, I was young and stupid and under the impression it would be a good game).

Oh THQ, it's good to see everything's back to normal with Community Creations. The game's been out since Tuesday, and that's the only day Community Creations has worked. Maybe in 5 years they'll fix the little problem with their servers.

I was able to sneak in a Jericho download before the servers shat all over me again. I just wanna do my WCW invasion with actual WCW wrestlers, is that too much to ask?

So I tried to use Community Creations for the first time. The first thing I saw when I opened it was a message from THQ saying that a lot of bugs had been fixed, which made me somewhat hopeful.

I then had the servers crap out on me something like 8 times, and my game actually freeze once, and by the time I gave up I had 2 wrestlers and 3 rings. Was it honestly worse than this before?

In the Universe mode on WWE '12, is there any way to stop it from showing a panning shot of the crowd for about 30 seconds before the wrestlers come out for their match? I could understand if it was just for the opening of each TV show/PPV but it happens before every match.

And it lags like hell when showing the crowd. It's like in slow-mo for a few seconds, normal for one second, then like in fast motion, then slowed way down again. And there's no way I can figure out to skip it.

I have the PS3 version, BTW.

So I've run into a new issue. I'm trying to run a Draft, so I go into schedule and try to set it. Try it, nothing. Do this several times, nada. Has anyone tried setting their own draft? Or can you only do it the day after WrestleMania. Not happy with all the nonsense bugs and errors I find with Universe.

That's the transition for while waiting for a match, rather than a simple screen with "Loading..." on it.

Yeah, Sheamus booting Bryan in the air was so worthy of having a mid-match cutscene devoted to it. God, the Road to WrestleMania stories this year are awful.
