Have you ever seen a reference to pro wrestling in someplace you would never expect? For example, i remember the eddie murphy film "Holy Man" had a reference to DX (at least, im pretty sure it was a reference): www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKFcQvKFLcM&feature=relmfu(go to 0:20)

I remember when I was a kid, there was that episode of The Powerpuff Girls where Townsville is invaded by broccoli-like aliens. When the Powerpuffs rally the city's kids to defeat the aliens by eating them, a big kid who's wearing an nWo shirt jumps out and says "let's get 'em!"

How about during a Major League Baseball game?
On April 17 of last year, the Pirates played the Reds in Cincinnati. During the game, broadcaster Tim Neverett said that there would be pro wrestling at the Riverfront Coliseum that evening (a reference to TNA Lockdown).
It was what he said next that puzzled me: "Just across the river [in Kentucky] they're having the PirateFest of pro wrestling." Now for those who don't know, PirateFest is a fan convention the team holds just prior to the start of each season--think of it as their version of Axxess. I was confused because I hadn't heard of anything like that going on, at least not a major one. I later found out it was TNA's fan convention he was talking about.
The Nickelodeon show "My Brother and Me" had a lot of wrestling references, including one episode that opens with Dee Dee and his friends watching a WCW show circa 1993.

Speaking of which wrestling has turned up on TV in episodes of Cheers and Friends. I believe the friends appearance has midgets, although I'm almost certain it was more than once. The strangest reference I ever saw was on a BBC comedy show, I think it was David Baddiel, can't find it on youtube right now although I have found it before. Bare with me and wait for the edit. EDIT: Well, I've searched and searched. The TV show was The Mary Whitehouse Experience which aired for two series' on BBC TV. It wasn't that good from what I recall just a reference and a guy in costume.

Watching HIMYM, they talk about Ted's facetious ex and show a flashback of her saying she was only joking about getting WMIII tickets, and then cuts to Marshall dressed as the Ultimate Warrior, saying he was too, then Lily bursts in as Hacksaw.
Was a little out of the blue!

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia had a whole episode about wrestling with Roddy Piper as a guest star.
My favourite part of it was 'So what's the deal with Hulk Hogan's hair? It's blonde, yet silken like a Chinese man.'
I also find it amusing whenever Cracked references wrestlers, because they're clearly legit fans - they don't just bring up Hulk Hogan and make a dumb joke about 'WWF,' they reference Ric Flair woo-ing without any context whatsoever.

Was a little out of the blue! I came in to post this! Someone from the HIMYM writing team has to be a wrestling fan. As well as that, Barney has the winged eagle belt in one episode and gets the most expensive suit made of diamonds called the DiBiase. Really then, the wrestling references aren't all that unexpected, but it's just so weird to hear them in such a huge show.

The movie Pay it Forward (Great movie by the way) has numerous references to WCW in 2000.
From what i remember.
- The main character of the movie (The kid) has a room full of WCW stuff.
- In a scene he is playing with wrestling figures whilst his mum is drunk.
- Theres a scene where hm, his mum and his mums boyfriend (His teacher) are watching an episode of WCW Monday Nitro, The main character asks to go see wrestling. The match playing during that episode of Nitro? A sweet Billy Kidman Vs Vampiro match from February 2000.

I forget the name of the film but Donny Yen gives a guy a running Burning Hammer onto a bike rack. It was flipping brutal. Awesome flick too, if only I could remember the title.
