Sami vs Drake has been made a Best of Three series, continuing at DDT4 in a Knock out or Submission only match.
Winner of the series gets a title shot.

Steenerico in DDT4? It just got real folks. Yep PWG doing this makes them win everything. I can't wait to see what goes down between the two of them

I'm not so sure. I smell a Future Shock/Steenerico final that leads to more Adam Cole bragging rights.
I think its starting to make a lot more sense as to why Cole beat Generico at BOLA.

Swann & Ricochet are the INNER CITY MACHINE GUNS. Take an already established stable and comedically rename them. Only in PWG. I think its starting to make a lot more sense as to why Cole beat Generico at BOLA. Assuming Cole is eventually assisted by the Bucks (which is a possibility), this angle has lots of different ways it can go.

I'm sure I've seen this question before, but after seeing the Steen Wolf trailer in the Final Battle thread, what are the essential shows/DVD's to get me started in PWG?

I'm sure I've seen this question before, but after seeing the Steen Wolf trailer in the Final Battle thread, what are the essential shows/DVD's to get me started in PWG? Welll, if you can find them since I believe are out of print or almost out of print, first start of with PWG: Sells Out Volumes 1 and 2. If you can't find them, don't fear as PWG has just recently released PWG: Sells Out Vol. 3 which is essentially a 'best-of' compilation of PWG matches from 2003-2010 I believe. If you want individual shows, starting from 2003 and going forward would take all day, so I'll just start suggesting shows from when I started going in late 2008-early 2009. BOLA 2008-2012 99 and 100 (2009) Express Written Consent (2009) DDT4 2009-2012 Threemendous II (2009) and Threemendous III (2012) Guerre Sans Frontieres (2009) Against the Grain (2009) As the Worm Turns (2010) Seven (7th Anniversary show - 2010) The Curse of Guerilla Island (2012) Cyanide - A Loving Tribute to Poison (2010) All Star Weekend 8: Nights 1 and 2 (2011) Eight (8th Anniversary show) The Perils of Rock n' Roll Decadence (2011) Steen Wolf (2011) Fear (2011) Pretty Much every show done this year has also been tremendous as well My person top 5 shows since I started attending live PWG shows would rank like this: 1. Threemendous III (2012) 2. Steen Wolf (2011) 3. Mystery Vortex (2012 - latest show) 4. Threemendous II (2009) 5. Guerre Sans Frotieres (2009)

I'm sure I've seen this question before, but after seeing the Steen Wolf trailer in the Final Battle thread, what are the essential shows/DVD's to get me started in PWG? They just released Best Of Vol. 3, 20+ of the best matches they've ever had. Also if you like Generico, the Best of Generico comp. has some really awesome stuff. Highly recommend both. Here are some must-buy shows with different types of matches on them. Ladder / hardcore matches: 2012 - Threemendous 3 (Super Smash Bros vs. Young Bucks vs. Future Shock 3-way ladder match) - Lots of people calling this indy MOTY. 2012 - Death to All But Metal (Super Smash Bros vs. Young Bucks, No DQ) - Precursor to Threemendous 3. One of the best matches of the year. 2011 - FEAR (Steen/Super Dragon vs. Young Bucks, Guerrilla Warfare) - Dragon came back at Steen Wolf after 4+ years. Still in top form. 2011 - Steen Wolf (Generico vs. Steen, ladder match) - Better than the ROH match. Better commentary, better crowd. 2005 - Uncanny X-Mas (Steen vs. Super Dragon, Guerrilla Warfare) - GW is PWG's trademark hardcore stip. This was the ending to a long feud that created lots of great matches. Possibly PWG's most brutal match ever. Best anniversary shows: 2010 - Seven - Chris Hero vs. Davey Richards, a really underrated Guerrilla Warfare (Generico/Paul London vs. Young Bucks vs. Cutlers), Daniel Bryan’s return, Scott Lost retires. 2009 - Threemendous 2 - The best Davey/Roderick Strong match ever, great tag match between Young Bucks & Generico/Human Tornado, Daniel Bryan vs. Chris Sabin. 2008 - Life During Wartime - Hero vs. Human Tornado feud ends with Cage Guerrilla Warfare, Young Bucks vs. Dynasty vs. MIYAWAKI/KAZMA 2007 - Giant Size Annual #4 - One of the coolest impromptu matches ever. Daniel Bryan was supposed to face Generico, but instead wrestled Necro. Then Generico wins Tag Titles with Steen, immediately gets challenged by Bryan for his PWG Title. 3 back to back crazy matches. Best tournament shows: 2012 Battle of Los Angeles - Fantastic weekend. Davey vs. Michael Elgin, Elgin tears on night 2 vs. Ricochet & Brian Cage. Steen vs. Ricochet, Sami vs. Willie Mack, Generico & Steen reunite on Night 2, heel Adam Cole, Drake Younger vs. Strong. DDT4 2012 - Best tag wrestling ever happens in DDT4. Super Smash Bros. make their mark. SSB vs. Bucks first time ever, SSB vs. Future Shock in a show stealer, Sami Callihan debuts, then challenges Steen to a STIFF match. 2011 Battle of Los Angeles - Claudio vs. Generico, Steen vs. Fit Finlay, Steen vs. Generico final round, precursor to Steen Wolf. 2011 DDT4 - Steen & Akira Tozawa crush through the tourney. Them vs. Kings of Wrestling, vs. Bucks & vs. Briscoes. 2010 Battle of Los Angeles - Watch Hero vs. Tozawa for this if nothing else. Really amazing match. PWG helped Tozawa more in 9 months than DG has in years. 2009 DDT4 - Bucks turn heel vs. Chuck Taylor/Kenny Omega, great final between Bucks vs. Daniel Bryan/Strong. 2007 Battle of Los Angeles - Generico vs. Nigel McGuiness, PAC vs. Claudio, Alex Shelley vs. Evan Bourne. Other great shows: 2011 - All Star Weekend 8 - Eddie Edwards vs. Generico in Eddie's best match ever. Steen/Tozawa vs. Ricochet/Generico (best tag match of 2011). Aries/Strong vs. Young Bucks, Tozawa’s goodbye on night 2. 2009 - Guerre Sans Frontieres - Hero vs. Daniel Bryan in Bryan’s then-last match. A real must-see pure wrestling match. Also Generico vs. SHINGO is absolutely great, it's also on Generico comp. 2009 - 99 & 100 - Daniel Bryan vs. Omega (hilarious), Strong vs. Tyler Black, Davey vs. Omega, Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns (this match made MCMG recommend Bucks to TNA). 2009 - Express Written Consent - Generico vs. Omega, Aries vs. Necro hardcore match, London/Young Bucks vs. Dynasty/Karl Anderson. 2008 - All Star Weekend 7 - Insane 6-man (PAC/Young Bucks vs. Steen/Generico/Susumu Yokosuka), Hero vs. Low Ki vs. Necro vs. Eddie Kingston. Then Hero vs. PAC on night 2. I haven’t seen Mystery Vortex, but that’s getting lots of talk too. PWG has a winter sale now that’s worth taking advantage of. All these shows are worth seeing one way or another. The newer ones I recommend more.

Are the belts on the line this year? Because if so I predict a title change in round 1.

Tickets page doesn't specify, but it's hard to think they won't be on the line. There hasn't been a DDT4 yet where the champs entered but didn't defend.

I fancy the winners of Team Hard and Strong and Future Shock in the first round to go on and win the whole thing.

My inner child wants SSB, the Machines or Steenerico to win it all. But my gut's telling me we're probably getting a Future Shock win here. Potentially with Kyle eventually deciding he doesn't like Adam's new attitude and leading into a PWG title match between the two.

Ehhh I disagree with Loser
I wasn't a big fan of the PWG ladder match, I thought the ROH one had a better crowd, told a story as opposed to a bunch of moves, and had amazing buildup as opposed to being a random announcement just to do it

Generico takes a hiatus, then the box thing, so maybe 2 months of hype, during which Steen still did his own thing. Cool angle, but I can't consider a hiatus a build-up. Also, the only possible endings being "Steen retains" or "Lethal challenges winner" made the potential outcome kinda lame. Not because those are bad choices, but obviously even if Generico won he'd lose immediately. With the Steen Wolf match I think most expected the opposite of what happened, because Generico had just beaten Steen at BOLA. "Bunch of moves" I agree with. But I don't want plodding in a ladder match. The ROH version had a fair amount of that. I liked it though.

DDT4 first round matches announced on Twitter. - Ricochet & Rich Swann vs. The Young Bucks - Brian Cage & Michael Elgin vs. Super Smash Bros. - Eddie Edwards & Roderick Strong vs. Future Shock - El Generico & Kevin Steen vs. Briscoe Bros. Those opening round matches are perfectly booked. I am really happy to see Steenerico vs Briscoes is happening again, RicoSwann vs Young Bucks should be insane, Hard and Strong vs Future Shock could be a quality technical and stiff/hard (Zeke) match, and Cagin vs SSB could be a great contrast of styles. It could be potentially be the best DDT in years, and thats saying something as most if not all of them are great.

Fair enough but the ROH match had 2 years of build behind it as opposed to 2 months, PWG never said why it was a ladder match. With ROH we got that amazing Steen tv promo and video package. The fight didn't need much hype because the story had been ongoing for 2 years. I thought the plodding fit a lot better, it helped tell the story. I never felt like they hated each other or told a coherent story in PWG. That's just my 2c although I live discussing positives and negatives of matches

Fair enough but the ROH match had 2 years of build behind it as opposed to 2 months, PWG never said why it was a ladder match. That's the thing, though. I don't think Steen leaving for a year, then Generico leaving for 6 months, are build-ups. Because when Steen left, there was never a plan to eventually do the the last man standing and ladder matches. He didn't even know if he'd return. When Generico left after losing the TV Title, I don't think it was done to put more emphasis on a future encounter. Pretty sure it was more "he's leaving, and if he does ever come back, we'll do a rematch". Also PWG never explains stipulation matches, really. Like when promoting the Threemendous 3 match, the point was more to do something over-the-top. When the outcome (the match) is awesome people don't think back to why that stip was there. Although it's different with Guerrilla Warfares, those almost always make sense. With ROH we got that amazing Steen tv promo and video package. The fight didn't need much hype because the story had been ongoing for 2 years. That's one way of looking at it. To say the match didn't need hype and also saying its hype was amazing, though, is odd. So basically Generico could've returned 2 years down the line instead of 6 months, and because time happens to pass, the build-up would be better? That's why I don't consider his absence to be a build. There was no work put into it, he was just gone. I thought the plodding fit a lot better, it helped tell the story. I never felt like they hated each other or told a coherent story in PWG. That's just my 2c although I live discussing positives and negatives of matches I feel like their animosity in PWG is more playful. For example ROH Steen would never pick up an "Ole" prop a fan brought and stare at it for 30 seconds while fans laugh. Lots of examples of stuff like this. When they flip each other off after every interaction and the crowd applauds. Even at the end of the Steen Wolf match Steen gave Generico a compliment. That wouldn't happen in ROH. They even teamed up at BOLA and are doing it again.
