Hey, Rikishi was good in the ring, had charisma, and was massively over. If he would have gotten a WWE Title run in 2000, it wouldn't have been that big of a stretch.
Yeah, Rikishi was really REALLY close to being the man in 2000. Seriously. Then the heel turn, and the staged fall into the bails of hay at Armageddon. I think that moment killed his career. And tagging with Haku. Not that I don't love Haku, but, not world title material.
But, Tatanka? Really? If Tatunka & Marty Janetty are making your list, maybe it's time to cut it to 15.
Really happy to see Regal & JYD there. JYD & Magnum are not world champs only because of tragedy. Both were on the fast track. Hell, I still think to this day JYD would have trumped Hogan in popularity. You have NO idea how over he was.
My all time favorite wrestling history lesson, because we're talking about JYD.
Random Clash of the Champions, can't remember the date or even the year, but the Midnight Express just beat the Fantastics for the US tag titles, so late 80's maybe 1990. JYD comes out, does an interview with Bob Caudil. Cornette interrupts and complains that he should get the interview time. He asks JYD where he's been, while the M-X were winning titles and matches.
JYD ponders and says "I've been at 242 Baker Street". Cornette loses his mind and screams "That's my mother's house!"
JYD: "That's right. I'm your daddy." and proceeds to punch Cornette off the stage.
That, folks, was in 1990. Long LONG before "Who's your daddy" became a catch phrase in pop culture.
I miss JYD...
