Dang it I thought I would have this in the bag with Weird Al Ah well I just started F.A.N. Tough Enough 3 (hint hint) so that can take my mind off my painful defeat. On the plus side I'm glad Double H gets to stay in the game he's a good guy so I'm happy he's still in the game.

Thoughts on the last round: {Spoiler}American
1. Pearl Jam - "Corduroy" I'm not a big Pearl Jam fan but I loved the lyrics and I felt this song captured its time period. "I don't want to stop and eat your bread"; wonderful line. The song reminded me, musically, of Sonic Youth with more of an edge.
2. Willie Nelson: "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" Beautiful singing; nice, simple guitar playing. Risky choice. Ranked this higher than I expected but I liked the stripped down sound.
3. Grand Funk Railroad "We're An American Band" Liked that you visited that musical time period. Strong, straight forward song; great rock song. It drags on a bit for me.
4. Alice in Chains "I Stay Away" I'm a huge Alice in Chains fan and I like them a lot more than Pearl Jam. However, I think the song is overproduced with the strings and that Layne's vocals aren't as strong here as they are in other songs. I expected, at first, that this would take first place for me but it just didn't resonate as well as the aforementioned songs.
5. The Dandy Warhols - "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" Lovely vocals and the keyboard solo is fantastic. Too repetitive for me but I love the beginning enough to rank this comparatively high. Sort of ends too; thought it would do more as a song. Strong choice though.
6. The Oh Hello's- "Hello My Old Heart" Great to see the risk here. Not too much of a fan of this lo-fi style of music; song shifts into a heavier sound towards the end that doesn't work well for me. A bit generic for me, musically, but you took a risk and I'd rather have that than something obvious.
7. Emille Autumn- "Shalott" Risky choice. As I said, seemed European. Reminded me of Kate Bush and Tori Amos. Didn't like the echo; vocals seemed rushed but I like her voice enough. Would've been better with more keyboard and less violins. A factor that didn't effect my judgment but that I liked: Seems to be a reference to Tennyson's "Lady of Shallot".
8. Mumford and Sons "The Cave" Didn't follow the theme, so that impacted the placement a bit.
Not a fan of the structure and the vocals, for the most part. Liked the lyrics better. Didn't stand out for me; unfairly, I think of this as "soundtrack music", used in a pretentious coming of age movie. I don't know how I feel about the banjo; it either should be eliminated or the rest of the production stripped down to match. Overproduced, imo.
9. Bruce Springsteen - "Born In The U.S.A." Obvious choice. Not a fan of the rhythm and the vocals. I won't discount the song's importance but I'm not a fan.
Non-American
1. Paul McCartney & Wings- "Mull of Kintyre" Huge Beatles/McCartney fan. Not something you'd automatically associate with McCartney; smart choice for me because you took a legendary musician and, comparatively speaking, picked something that wasn't obvious from them. When the bag pipes kicked in, I knew this song was a fantastic choice for the category.
2. The Moody Blues- "The Voice" Strong song, rather epic. Overproduced though; better Moody Blues songs. I thing the lyrics and the sound drag; bit generic for the Moody Blues, lyrically. Still, it's the Moody Blues. They're a risky band musically, I respect that. Sort of ends; song feels cluttered but that's a personal preference. Enough great musical things, though, to rank high for me.
3. M.O.V.E.- "DOGFIGHT" Seemed very much of its time. I like the production; lots going on but it works for me. Prefer the male voice to the female one but enjoy her singing nonetheless. Lots of energy and quite a bit of interesting sounds employed. I've complained about overproduction and it's here too but it works for me.
4. Engenheiros do Hawaii - O Papa é Pop Liked this a lot. Stripped down; I think the performance aspect of this helped. Acoustic was the right way to go here. Upbeat and fun; the fact that it was in a different language helped too.
5. Santana- "Maria, Maria" Not a fan of the lyrics. I think a different Santana song would have worked better. Catchy but overproduced. I would've liked a rawer sound. Comparatively safe choice but had strong enough elements to be in the middle.
6. Three Days Grace - "Animal I Have Become" Stood out with it's heaviness. Wanted more out of the song though. I felt that you could have picked a better song in this vein. Still, you took a risk and it was a good surprise to get something heavy in this category.
7. Miki Higashino- "Orrizonte Beautiful vocals but didn't connect with me. Seemed to drag. Not a fan of the genre; hard me to distinguish between the various songs at time. It's lovely but I don't really know where to go with it. Not really a fair criticism but it didn't stand out for me.
8. The Big Pink- "Dominoes" Too repetitive and I didn't care for the vocals. Wanted more out of the song; didn't care much for the lyrics. Admittedly, not in my wheelhouse, as far as genres go.
9. Altas Genius - "Trojans" Had that non-offensive Coldplay sound to it. Didn't care for the lyrics. Found it boring and wanted it to do more. Not an offensive song by any means but I liked the other songs in the round better. Just predictable as the song went on.

The deadline has been extended for one person, whom I am waiting for their choice. If I don't get their choice by tomorrow afternoon (Around 3 or 4 Western Time) then they are automatically eliminated

Although I will say this much, it might be auto elimination because this person hasn't been online for about a week
