Except Puder was hardly a heel himself.... he'd just won a popularity contest, for pete's sake. And it's the Royal Rumble. Every man for himself. Watching the competitors suddenly stop trying to eliminate one another and gang up on this one person is certainly a breach of kayfabe. They should all be trying to win the match. Hardly a heel? He was a born heel, like Bischoff and others who just ooze douchebaggery. Listen to the boos when he gets on the mic and tell me he's not a heel. Also, the Rumble is known for having comedy spots and laughs in it, and the three babyfaces taking turns to kick the shit out of the heel is a worthwhile one. They'd done it before in similar ways like when Triple H and Austin both eliminated Hurricane. And acting like no-one has ever teamed up in the Rumble is ridiculous. It even happened later in the same Rumble with Muhammad Hassan, a guy so hated that even the heels and face all took sides. Or the bit where Raw and Smackdown faced off.

The difference is, you don't need to know any background knowledge to make sense of that. The Hassan thing made WWE wrestlers look like a bunch of racists, but at least it made kayfabe sense. This Puder thing, it didn't make storyline sense, and even worse: It exposed the business. The announcers just giggled, "Uh oh! Here comes Holly! He's going to REALLY hurt Puder!" Well jeez, aren't they all always supposed to be really hurting each other all the time? Oh, but here, they're REALLY really hurting him. And I don't know about this born heel thing. Taking Angle down made Puder a face to most fans.

Hopefully not. Any disciplinary action should be dealt with backstage by management.

This. I hate when stuff like this happens. It's like guys like Bob Holly always wanted to show how tough they were by taking liberties with guys. That's real tough. I could beat the s*** out of a guy if it was his job to just take it. Guys like that are just insecure bullies. You didnt see guys like Undertaker or Bret Hart taking cheap shots out there cuz they're professionals who are actually good enough to get over. But The legion of Doom took liberties , are you saying they only did that because they weren't or couldn't get over? Also JBL worked incredibly stiff in the APA , Are you saying former world champion JBL wasn't good to get over? Or former World Champion Vader or Stan Hansen or Kenta Kobashi or KENTA or The Great Muta. I mean look at muta here. He's incredibly stiff there , are you saying Muta wasn't good enough to get over? Because he was pretty over in his feud with Sting. Working stiff is different than deliberately trying to hurt someone. And they were stiffing a guy they knew couldn't hit them back. I was more talking about guys like Hardcore Holly who seem to do it as some bazarre way to get respect instead of just letting his work in the ring do the talking. Puder was a dick, but what they did to him was Bush league high school crap.

They sting but its just like every other pain in wrestling. Are you gonna say you dont like slams because theyre stiff also? Because I would rather get chopped 20 times than take 20 bumps.

Bring up Japanese wrestlers in a WWE context is a bit misleading. Different culture, different circumstances.

This always annoyed me. As much of a Kurt Angle fan that I am, the whole thing pissed me off. They send these guys out there and tell them that Angle is going to fight them for real and by all means they were expected to fight back. I'm not a fan of Puder or anything, but if someone put me in the same situation, I probably would have done the same thing. I doubt his mindset was to injure Kurt and just expected him to tap out, a very stupid mistake on his part, but it's not all his fault. Shooting on him in the Rumble was just a petty f***ing thing to do, I get the whole "pay your dues" crap, but it just seemed more mean spirited than anything else. He shouldn't have even been there, he was completely oblivious to how wrestling works.
